Who We're Looking For

We are currently looking to hire a Practice Manager to lead our busy, multi-doctor practice and facilitate providing care to a wide variety of animals in our spacious hospital. We are well-established in the community and strive to create a collaborative and enjoyable work culture that takes pride in providing compassionate, quality service to our clients and their pets.

The Practice Manager at Whatcom Veterinary Hospital will drive appropriate staffing, coordinate HR-related issues with our HR team, hiring, development, training, compliance, payroll, and project management. The ideal candidate must lead with confidence in veterinary abilities and have strong leadership qualities and supervisory experience; and be sufficiently adaptable to operate effectively in different roles with a variety of people within and outside the hospital. The Practice Manager must be creative, yet able to develop and implement practical programs; must possess good judgment and the willingness and capability for making decisions; and must be interested in contributing substantively to successful hospital performance and growth. The Practice Manager has a wide oversight scope and drives overall results in the clinic in partnership with the Medical Director, under the direction of Regional Leadership.

Duties Include but are not limited to

  • Contribute to the development of the practice’s vision, mission, and core values and use them as guides to all decision-making in day-to-day operations within the clinic.
  • Develop and promote an ongoing and regular training program for all team members.
  • Problem solves to improve clinic procedures for increased efficiency/effectiveness.
  • Train employees to follow protocols.
  • Handle clinic finances, human resources, and hiring while remaining compliant with state and federal employment laws.
  • Participate in the practice’s strategic planning process and actively work to operationalize strategic initiatives to move the practice forward.
  • Monitor team morale; foster positive work culture; address staff/client concerns.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance.

The Practice Manager may be required to work irregular hours. A minimum of 40 hours per week will be required. The Practice Manager is subject to recall in emergency situations.

Salary Range: $70,000 - $80,000 DOE

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Minimum 2+ years of leadership experience
  • Minimum 2+ years of veterinary experience
  • Demonstrate effective leadership qualities
  • Passion for working with animals and their owners
  • Certified Veterinary Practice Manager (CVPM) or we'll help get you there!
  • Strong focus on assisting the practice in providing optimal medicine and top-quality patient care to the community
  • Demonstrate financial leadership with an understanding of KPI’s, P&L’s and a RESULTS focus
  • Self-starter with a willingness to contribute immediately
  • Systematic approach with an ability to leverage technology for practice success
  • High EQ with effective communication skills
  • Encourage growth and development of staff
  • Strong inventory management skills
  • Kind, compassionate, effective – driving results for all the right reasons
  • Ability to work in a pet environment that has all species of animals, small and large, and around ever-changing smells, and noises
  • Ability to effectively communicate utilizing Outlook, Microsoft Teams, and telephone
  • Ability to operate Windows-based computers and programs, learn new programs, join, and host online meetings
