JOB DESCRIPTION

The Preschool Director at Cornelius Early Scholars is responsible for the oversightand leadership of the Weekday Preschool program. The Preschool Director should be a servant leader who loves children and wants to help them prepare for Kindergarten and a foundation for a successful future.

Qualifications:

  • The person selected for this position must be a Christian and have a lifestyle that reflects such.
  • Must be educated and/or experienced as a teacher of young children especially in the field of early childhood education or development
  • A minimum of two years teaching experience with training or experience in personnel supervision of direct reports and volunteers.
  • Willing to increase knowledge in the field of child development.
  • Able to relate to adults and children on all levels of the socioeconomic structure of the community.
  • Display the personality and ability to provide leadership and stability for program continuity.
  • Must possess excellent communication, organizational and people skills.
  • Must be a team player and work with CES Board of Directors.
  • Possess good hand-eye coordination, visual acuity, hearing and mobility with normal bending and stooping that may require the ability to lift 10 to 50 pounds.

Preschool Administration:

  • The director will develop the annual budget with input, then approval of the preschool board.
  • The director will maintain, within budget, the financial success of the preschool, including overseeing the work of the preschool’s book keeper and participating in annual audit.
  • The director will be responsible for the filing and maintaining the integrity of personal, medical and developmental records for each child.
  • The director will be responsible for equipping and supplying the program, as well as the maintenance of the preschool space, playground and equipment.
  • The director will ensure the safety and cleanliness of the preschool area and playground.

Preschool Coordination:

  • The director will be responsible for working with the board regarding determining preschool policy and is responsible for consistently enforcing these policies.
  • The director will supervise the registration process and orientation with parents and children.
  • The director understands the developmental needs of young children and will determine and oversee the implementation of age appropriate curriculum and programming, assuringthat the staff uses developmental teaching techniques and that the developmental needs of young children are a priority.
  • The director will select the curriculum and evaluate the effectiveness of the curriculum, assuring its relationship to the philosophy and mission statement.
  • The director will interact with children daily.
  • The director will establish positive communications with parents on a regular basis, including parent education opportunities, and being available for parent counseling and conferences.
  • The director will establish strategic plans for the future success of the program.

Staff Management:

  • The director will interview and hire prospective teachers with Board approval.
  • The director will do the on-boarding for all staff and either lead or identify ongoing training and in-service opportunities.
  • The director will lead regular staff meetings and have daily communication with each teacher.
  • The director will maintain confidential personnel files for staff members.
  • The director will observe and evaluate teacher performance and effectiveness with ongoing communication and performance appraisals.

LegalCompliance:

  • The Director will maintain the early education programso that it meets or exceeds all state and federal laws and regulations that apply to a religious early childhood program and its employees.
  • Keep available for staff and parents a current copy of state licensing laws, and display acurrent copy of state licensure in the preschool office (if license exempt, the program should self-monitor licensing standards in order to provide a high quality of care and a safe environment).

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $30,000.00 - $35,000.00 per year
