HybridCollins Aerospace is looking for a Principal Project Engineer within the Program Technical Office (PTO) to work in the Boeing Value stream. In this highly visible role, you will be a key partner in a customer facing role that liaises across different internal and external functions to achieve technical resolution of open nacelle in-service issues and implement value engineering opportunities. You will provide program level technical support to drive root cause and corrective action in support of the open field issues across the Boeing programs. You will be provided an opportunity to gather product knowledge and interface with internal and external customers.
The position is working in a Hybrid capacity, which is a mix of working onsite and remotely from home weekly, from our Chula Vista CA facility. Relocation assistance is available.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead Step back reviews to highlight Inservice findings and drive timely resolution to improve operational reliability.
- Coordinate Design Reviews, RRCA and DIVEs with Internal and External Stakeholders to recommend design changes.
- Support robust Validation and Verification testing to ensure robust design outcomes
- Coordinates with PTM, Component Engineering Teams, Program, Supply Chain and AMTS to track design changes that involve integration across multiple components.
- Support timely development of Design change notes (DCN) to incorporate design changes in serial production.
- Develop and Maintain metrics management and visual controls to ensure timely completion of analysis/design activities in support of producibility and value engineering changes.
- Identify PIOs to improve data linkage and flow between internal and external stakeholders.
- Leverage lessons learned and program read across to develop engineering best practices.
- Communicate and make presentations to senior level leadership
- Travel up to 20% domestically and internationally when circumstances permit
- Perform other duties as required
Basic Qualifications
- Requires a University Degree and typically a minimum of 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and typically a minimum of 5 years of experience.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. Collins Aerospace will not offer sponsorship for this position.
- Understanding of Aerospace engineering design and analysis review/release process.
- Understanding of the configuration management process
- Project management skills using MS Office, MS Project and/or EVMS
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong understanding of Certification (CS25) requirements
- Identification of risks early on and ability to manage/mitigate by leveraging Sr. Leadership Support.
- Ability to influence, motivate and co-ordinate with diverse global teams/customers
- Prior experience designing and testing structural and equipment products
- Strong root cause and corrective action skills
