Are you looking to join the team that is delivering targeted ad products on Fire TV devices? We are just getting started and are in search of a technical program leader for an Automatic Content Recognition to build and launch Automatic Content Recognition (ACR) on Fire OS devices, starting with Fire TV Edition TVs (FTVEs). This project will be a collaboration between Amazon's Ads, Alexa and Fire TV organizations, so the selected candidate will be making a cross-org impact. ACR technology uses the audio fingerprint technology used within Alexa Speech “wake word” detection, to recognize ads that our customers watch on broadcast and cable TV. Soon, we will expand this feature to include content such as shows and movies. ACR is table stakes for our devices business. The largest CTV OEMs, including Roku, LG, Vizio and Samsung, have ACR on their devices. These companies use customer viewing data to deliver targeted ad products on their devices and/or license data to third-party ad tech providers (such as The Trade Desk). A few also use it to improve recommendations, like Roku’s “More Ways to Watch. “Our advertiser customers, particularly media and entertainment advertisers that wish to encourage tune-in to new shows or theatrical releases, promote tentpole events like The Oscars or drive subscriptions to SVOD services or traffic to ad supported apps, expect the same from our devices. We took the customer obsessed approach, waiting until we had a compelling customer benefit — limiting repetitive ads. We are now starting to work toward monetization and will launch new targeting capabilities that allow advertisers to reach incremental audiences (compared to those reached on linear TV) and people with relevant viewing interests/behavior (e.g., show ads for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power to people that watched Game of Thrones or House of the Dragon). We hope to expand our ability to limit ad repetition into third-party inventory and maybe someday linear TV and are continuing to invest in features that personalize and enhance the viewing experience, like improved content recommendations. As the ACR TPM, you will be responsible for scoping and delivering large projects end-to-end. Responsibilities include collection of business and systems requirements from internal and external customers, writing specifications, driving project schedules from design to release, and managing the production launch. You will lead and coordinate design/implementation efforts between internal teams and outside merchants and vendors to develop optimal solutions. You will be expected to make appropriate tradeoffs to optimize time-to-market, clearly communicate goals, roles, responsibilities, and desired outcomes to internal cross-functional and remote project teams. The right candidate will possess a strong technical program management background, will have demonstrated experience leading medium to large projects, and will have a well-rounded technical background in current web technologies. You must be able to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial environment, and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities. This means you are not only able to develop and drive high-level strategic initiatives, but can also roll up your sleeves, dig in and get the job done. As a TPM, you will anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make tradeoffs, and balance the business needs versus technical constraints. An ability to take large, complex projects and break them down into manageable pieces, develop functional specifications, then deliver them in a successful and timely manner is expected. Maturity, high judgment, negotiation skills, ability to influence, analytical talent and leadership are essential to success in this role. You should also have the ability to hire, coach, and mentor individuals; build a strong cross-functional organization. Be a champion of engineering and operational excellence and establish team metrics for that excellence; including a consistent, regular process for assessment and improvement. Represent the technical organization and evangelize the work to senior leadership. Raise the bar on technical excellence, show thought leadership, and communicate well to different audiences. Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $141,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $275,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
