This individual will be integral in the engineering team, working closely with manufacturing personnel to identify processes improvements and lead the equipment procurement and implementation process. The emphasis of the role will be on the introduction of product designs through solid modeling and through the use of state-of-the-art, large format 5 axis CNC router machining centers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide technical support and leadership on capital projects, including selection of appropriate equipment and improvement solutions, defining scope and developing user requirements.
• Review current designs and manufacturing processes for potential improvements. Use sales data, manufacturing costs, and manufacturing feedback to create priorities.
• Proficiently develop CAD models using advanced tools within Solid Edge, and transition into CAM (MasterCAM & SmartPro/EasyWood) for programing on CNC machines.
• Identifying and analyzing metrics to measure production goals and implementing procedures to improve upon them.
• Participate in internal or external training programs to maintain knowledge of modern technology, equipment, reliability initiatives, project management and investigative tools.
• Prepares Work Instructions to communicate the proper set-up and operation of manufacturing processes to produce products which meet customer requirements.
• Assists in the design, installation and troubleshooting of basic manufacturing equipment such as jigs, fixtures and instrumentation.
• Lead projects to improve productivity and cost reduction while maintaining the primary goal of safety.
• Lead process-engineering and continuous improvement support for new and existing products to meet and exceed plant KPI’s.
• Provide technical assistance to engineering team and CNC team.
• Develop effective and efficient work-holding solutions for CNC machining.

  General understanding of woodworking joinery, techniques, and safe machine use.
• Competency developing engineering drawings with proper GD&T practices.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Software – Excel, Word, Outlook, Access, etc.

Preferred Experience/Knowledge:

• Experience in developing Bills of Materials, Part Routings, and Manufacturing Procedures
• Experience with LEAN/Cellular Manufacturing Methods and Process Flows
• Experience with CNC equipment maintenance/upgrade
• Experience with Epicor or other ERP software.

Preferred Education:

• B.S. Engineering or Engineering Technology
• Relevant on-the-job Experience
