Linamar Forging Carolina (LFC) is part of the Linamar Group that has over 70 facilities around the world. As a member of the Linamar Group, LFC receives support from the Group office to develop activities, launch new businesses, and provide growth opportunities to the LFC employees.
This position reports to the General Manager and is a member of the facility’s Plant Operational Committee (POC). The Production Manager role is the driving force of the production department, which is at the center of our processes. This position maintains ownership and responsibility for the capacity to impact the results of the plant.
Succeeding in this position will mean identifying and developing new growth opportunities at LFC or within the Linamar Corporation.
Role and Responsibilities:
Responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating all manufacturing operations of production, and packaging departments. Develop priorities based on quality products, output efficiency, and cost improvement. Create schedules and staffing requirements based on determined priorities.
1. Support, promote and demonstrate Linamar’s Core Values and Leadership Behaviors.
2. Maintain balance between customer, employee, and financial satisfaction by maximizing facility/department performance indicators.
3. Support and maintain department lean initiatives as set out in Linamar Production System requirements.
4. Directly manage production supervisors, and indirectly manage 200+ employees.
- ensure that safety and process rules are respected and followed
- define the gap and actively engage in the hiring and training process for new employees
- identify internal talent and promote when possible
- guarantee sufficient output of the lines to satisfy customer and to respect cost constraints.
5. Drive the business with the target to improve our processes to decrease the losses, to improve the working conditions, and to positively impact our profitability. Use standard quality tools/methods for that (Ishikawa, 5why, OEE, 5S,…)
6. Co-ordinate the scheduling of all machines to ensure efficient use of the complete facility (i.e,check and validate PM downtime, ensure material and tooling are available).
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing or related discipline
Required Skills & Experience:
1. 6-10 years of experience in automotive production management activities.
2. Exemplary leadership, coaching, and communication skills.
3. Strong decision-making skills regarding staffing, customer complaints, and suggestions for change.
4. Use continuous improvement tools & resources to improve performance.
5. Demonstrate professionalism during internal and external meetings.
6. Demonstrate respect for rules and processes.
7. Proficient in MS Excel and Power Point.
