Production Supervisor (Guardian) Job at Altra Industrial Motion Corp.
SUMMARY
The Production Supervisor is an integral part of the Operations Teams who manages and coordinates activities of the hourly workforce. These employees assemble parts into units, service manufacturing processes/equipment, and provide equipment support. The Production Supervisor will interface with all levels of management and employees in a team-based environment and continually strive to implement the philosophies of the Altra Business System (ABS). Supervisors are dedicated to a specific operating cells.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe work environment. Complete job safety analysis, investigate accidents and near misses, and identify/implement improvements
- Advise/support interpretation and consistency of contract enforcement; Adhere company policies in accordance with the union labor agreement
- Work actively to enforce the attendance policy and performance management processes.
- Meet customer quality requirements
- Lead and manage safety, quality, delivery, productivity and cost improvements through effective performance management (KPIs)
- Work with planners to meet production schedules
- Support quality improvements by ensuring employees comply with documented standard work
- Own administrative practices, such as time-card management, vacation and PTO requests, overtime distribution, probationary employee evaluations, and other duties as assigned.

- Knowledge and experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement
- Proven track record for delivering results - meeting deadlines and working under pressure
- Ability to achieve 100% on-time-delivery to all customers
- Ability to increase manufacturing productivity and efficiency
- Ability to think analytically and ability to translate vision into action
- Must be able to utilize ABS tools including Kaizens to lead/implement process improvements
- Ability to maintain positive employee and labor relations
- Team leadership and alignment skills - Ability to manage a diverse group of people and motivate staff to work together as one team
- Proficient with computer (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Education and Experience Requirements
- 5 years of manufacturing experience with at minimum 1 year in a supervisory role
- Experience in a lean manufacturing environment as a mechanical engineer, process/quality engineer and/or manufacturing manager preferred
- Proven track record driving measurable/sustainable improvements.
Physical Demand and Work Environment:
Physical demands—the physical demands of the job, including bending, sitting, lifting 25 pounds on average, 50 pounds occasionally and driving.
Work environment—the work environment; temperature, noise level, inside or outside, or other factors that will affect the person's working conditions while performing the job.
