Job Purpose
National Grid has stepped forward into a pivotal role to lead the clean energy transition, having recently announced its vision for a clean, fair and affordable future and fossil free across its jurisdictions by 2050. To do this and drive towards that commitment, we need to act and think differently. That’s where you come in.
The success of the Transformation will depend in part on our ability to engage and mobilize our people, support our leaders, build momentum, and buy in and connect the dots to drive commitment and urgency to what is a significant Transformation journey, often referred to as a generational shift. As Lead Program Manager, Business Change, reporting to the Transformation office aligned to the NY business, you are well and truly at the heart of this and at the heart of something quite amazing.
Key Accountabilities
- Case for Change - Partner with the wider Transformation team and NY business leadership to create compelling case for change that energizes and mobilizes the teams
- Change Story - Work within and across teams to build the NY Transformation change story, linking the component parts across the roadmap to understand how each element plays a part to enable our clean energy future and connecting people to their role in making the future a reality
- Change Landscape - Provision a single view of all change across the Jurisdiction, understanding the significance of the changes within the functional and guide appropriate change prioritization
- Executive / Leadership support - Generate and maintain advocacy at the executive level, coaching and supporting leadership to fulfill their critical role in enabling the transformation and generating urgency across the business to add pace to the Transformation
- Change initiatives - Support and enable the implementation of change initiatives across the New York jurisdiction, in pursuit of and aligned to the Transformation as well as major program efforts and digital products
- Partnerships - Partner with the Transformation Office for MA, sharing best practices and ensuring the National Grid level messaging aligns.
- Comms and Eng. - Develop communications and engagement strategy including materials and delivery channels to deliver the change narrative at the NY BU level and for both NY Electric and NY Gas businesses, partnering with internal comms
- Change impacts - Identify the change impacts to individuals and groups and create a change strategy, designing and delivering change interventions to help stakeholders respond and adapt, finding ways to overcome individual resistance to change
- Change Networks - Support the Change network and other user groups to deliver and receive feedback in response to the Transformation – maintain cadence and align with MA, building a momentum for change across the jurisdiction
- Measure - Measure the effectiveness of change management plans with the identification of key measures and metrics, and embedded in leadership dialogue and decision making
- Networks - Build and maintain a strong internal and external networks to ensure ongoing benchmarking and the ability to bring innovative and progressive ideas
- Capacity -Monitor change capacity for the NY business and develop approach to increase change capacity, growing our leaders change capability through targeted development opportunities, partnering with People and Culture to ensure an holistic approach
Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree, MBA or advanced degree in organizational behavior or I/O psychology a plus
- 3-5 years’ change management experience, preferably in implementing large scale change in a customer-focused organization.
- Significant hands-on experience with change management methodologies; recognized certifications such as Prosci, APMG highly desirable
- Background in Change Management, Organizational Development, Organizational Behavior or Psychology preferred
- Excellent facilitation skills in virtual and live environments
- Able to translate strategy, challenges, and emerging priorities into action
- Flexible and adaptable – able to build rapport easily and flex their style to suit different audiences
- Emotionally intelligent and self-aware – able to read the room and respond to reactions in others
- Action oriented – able to demonstrate a bias for action in all endeavors
- Strong time management and ability to successfully prioritize and handle multiple tasks
- Excellent written and oral communication skills

Salary
$129k - $152k a year in Brooklyn, NY and Melville, NY.
$108k - $127k a year in Albany, NY and Syracuse, NY.
This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
