Pay Range

$91,700.00-$126,100.00 Annual

This is the base salary pay range that an applicant can expect to make upon hire. Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors. In addition, this position is eligible for an incentive bonus.

Position can be based out of our Hillsboro, TX plant, Milan, OH plant or Littleton, CO Technical Center

Project Engineer II is accountable for all technical and commercial aspects of an investment project. Execution will be completed safely, timely, on budget and per the agreed scope and functionality. Cooperates and communicates actively with the project stakeholders such as plant managers and business leaders to ensure alignment in all stages of the project. The typical budget is $3M to $20M.

Responsible for equipment and work specifications; develop schedules, budgets and forecasts; selects materials, equipment, project resources, and contractors with and ensures all aspects of the design are reviewed technically and commercially for scope, safety, quality, and functionality with guidance and support from plant engineer or divisional engineering leader. Project Engineer II provides support in the different stages of the project and reviews options and provides guidance.

Your Day to Day:

Execute investment projects with a budget of $3M to $20M with medium/high complexity according the CPP process and requirements described below:

  • Develop, guide, review, and present project feasibility studies and business cases that accurately identify project benefits, risks, and returns project assignments concurrently and driving projects to completion
  • Estimate costs of an approved project, resources and time required to complete. Drives the iteration of options to identify in the end the most optimal technical solution to meet the cost/performance improvements defined in the business case.
  • Evaluates vendors in close cooperation with procurement to check cost/performance and decides according the project RACI on the sourcing plan
  • Provide project management and oversight for all aspects and phases for multiple project assignments concurrently and drive projects to completion
  • Review Mechanical and/or Electrical Controls detail engineering for all project aspects
  • Ensure compliance with technical specifications and contracts for equipment and services for all aspects of projects
  • Coordinate, review, provide oversight and manage external engineering resources and consultants as needed
  • Develop bid request documentation, supplier lists, bid evaluations, and make recommendations for purchasing
  • Design of safe processes and specification of safe equipment, ensures that ergonomics is considered in all areas of design, and that potential safety and health hazards are identified and eliminated during project execution
  • Design and specify environmentally compliant equipment and processes, ensure that all permit requirements are considered and addressed in the design, and that potential environmental issues are identified and addressed during project execution
  • Prepare, review, deliver, and implement necessary training to maintenance and operations hourly
  • Maintain effective communication to management and project customers regarding project status, problems, and changes
  • Apply lean manufacturing concepts to all aspects of design and project execution.
  • Prepare, organize, document, and archive project documentation.
  • Works proactively with process engineers, production, and maintenance departments to solve process and equipment issues, and to identify improvement opportunities based on joint performance reviews with coworkers.
  • May be required to perform other related duties as assigned.

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, (chemical, electrical or mechanical) with a preference of 5-7 years' engineering experience in industrial or manufacturing industry
  • Strong project management skills with projects up to $5M
  • Solid leadership skills
  • Solid interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated high level of drive and initiative to complete assigned tasks and investigate and seek out improvement opportunities
  • Proficient in project scheduling software (MS Project, Primavera)
  • Experience managing contractors and sub-contractors, including bid process
  • Experience preparing estimates, schedules, and project deliverables
  • Proven ability to negotiate and manage change
  • Exposure to SAP systems a plus
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to interface at all levels of the organization, both internally and externally
  • Supervises/Leads individuals or a project team to achieve milestones and objectives by setting priorities and providing direction. May provide feedback for performance evaluations.
  • Heavy travel required (20%-40%)
  • Work environment is typical of a manufacturing facility: May be exposed to environmental conditions of cold, heat, high noise levels, moving mechanical parts, heights, dust/mist/gas/fumes, extensive walking or climbing, etc.
  • May be required to lift, carry, push, or pull up to and including 25 pounds
