We are currently looking for a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner-Full time

Candidates must possess a valid NYS Nurse Practitioner in Psychiatry License.

Responsibilities:

• The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (NP) will be responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of psychiatric disorders in a neurologically and medically complex population, under the close supervision of the facility’s Consulting Psychiatrist.
• Clinical responsibilities will include prescribing psychiatric medication, providing follow-up monitoring of patients’ ongoing psychiatric needs, education, review of records, etc.
• The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (NP) will be an integral part of the treatment team, working directly with nurses, therapists, social workers, primary care physicians, and other staff.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics: .

• Will possess competence in the practice of psychiatric diagnosis and treatment, with an emphasis on psychopharmacology in a complex patient population.
• Works to insure continuity of service, thinks independently, and adheres to policies.
• Must possess the ability to write clear and concise evaluations, progress notes, and reports; the ability to develop and maintain collaborative and supportive working relationships with all members of the clinical and clerical staff;
• Will inform the Psychiatrist and Administrator of relevant clinical and administrative issues.
