The Syracuse, NY Veterans Affairs Medical Center is recruiting a full-time Psychologist to work half time in our Palliative Care Service (inpatient and outpatient) and half-time in our Community Living Center.

You will work with an interdisciplinary staff to perform evaluations for patient conditions that include depression, anxiety, substance abuse and general emotional and cognitive functioning. The assessment and care provided are matched to the cognitive, emotional, chronological maturation, and diverse needs of the person served. Provide a full range of therapeutic interventions with a strong emphasis on evidence-based models of care in the management of mental illness and behavioral management. Provide suicide screening and crisis management services to patients using evidence-based tools and VA approved templates.

Provide clinical oversight to various disciplines/providers including unlicensed Psychologists, post-doctoral fellows, pre-doctoral interns, doctoral-level practicum students, medical and psychiatry residents, medical students/interns, medical residents and fellows.

Requires doctoral degree, completion of APA accredited internship, licensure and U.S citizenship.
