Public Safety Officer Job at Good Shepherd Rehabilitation
- JOB SUMMARY
Provide public safety services for all that enter Good Shepherd.
- ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
INSPECTS FOR SAFETY ISSUES
Patrols buildings and grounds of hospital to prevent fires, thefts and vandalism utilizing the Guard One system completing a minimum of 80 hit points at Bethlehem, 100 at Allentown, per shift.
Inspects doors, windows and locks to determine level of public safety.
Patrols parking areas to detect any irregularities.
Reports all safety and fire hazards observed on routine patrols and inspections.
PROVIDES ASSISTANCE TO RESIDENTS, PATIENTS, ASSOCIATES, CLIENTS AND VISITORS
Provides parking assistance to all persons upon request and escorts visitors, patients and associates to and from parking areas.
Assists motorists who become stranded on hospital property.
Responds to emergency calls for assistance to control disorderly conduct or combative patients.
Provides pedestrian crossing assistance during peak times and special events.
Collects cash bags daily and delivers them safely to Finance.
Provides personal protective services to staff in parking areas during shift change and by providing escorts during off hours.
Responds to emergency calls for assistance during medical emergencies.
Assists all customers and supports departmental / organizational / customer service initiatives.
Programs ID badges received from the Human Resources Department.
Provides public safety services at the Health and Technology Center reception desk and valet parking services at the Health and Technology Center and the Rehab Hospital.
PROVIDES DOCUMENTATION
Investigates incidents of unusual circumstances reported by hospital employees / associates, visitors, patients, residents, or clients and reports all incidents by the end of each shift.
Completes incident reports and documents investigatory steps and results.
PROVIDES PUBLIC SAFETY SERVICES
Monitors hospital environment using electronic public safety equipment (closed circuit television, alarms, GuardTour, etc.).
Enforces all hospital policies and procedures as assigned by Administration and / or the Director of Public safety.
MAINTAINS SAFE WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Complies, monitors, and implements procedures, rules and regulations.
Patrols buildings and grounds to aid in life safety and fire prevention.
Conducts organizational fire drills.
MAINTAINS continuity between shifts
Communicates Public safety Department issues, concerns, and needs to fellow public safety officers and Lead Public safety Officers on a daily basis and Director of Public safety as necessary.
CONTRIBUTES TO TEAM EFFORT
Accomplishes related results as needed.
Provides shift coverage for absent employees.
Performs all other duties as assigned by the Director of Public Safety or designee.

_Education
High School Diploma required
Associate's Degree preferred
Work Experience
Previous security, law enforcement, or fire service experience preferred
Licenses / Certifications
Driver's License required
Basic Life Support / CPR, as a healthcare provider, per the American Heart Association required
IAHSS Public Safety Officer certification preferred
