Who we’re looking for

Toyota’s Purchasing Supplier Development (PSD) Engineering, Risk and Compliance (ERC) is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Purchasing Risk Analyst.

The primary responsibility of this role is to manage PSD’s supplier financial review process, ensure on-time reporting of supplier annual audited financial statements, refine & develop financial assessment methods, and support assessment of financially distressed suppliers to ensure Toyota maintains a sustainable, competitive, and financially stable North American supply chain.

The person in this role will support PSD’s objective to develop our outsourced supply base to ensure overall best cost, quality, manufacturability, and operational self-reliance. The candidates should consistently demonstrate attributes of next level capability as outlined in the Toyota Core Competencies and meets expectations of current position.

What you’ll be doing

  • Obtain, review, and clarify inconsistencies of audited financial statements from supplier companies.
  • Evaluate the financial health considering company cash flows, profitability & EBITDA performance, capital structure, liquidity metrics and assign risk ranking.
  • Automotive supply base analysis to identify risk areas and trends.
  • Maintain risk ranking of supply base and make recommendations to mitigate financial risk.
  • Assess current market trends in raw material, labor and other cost elements and their impact on financial conditions to forecast future risk potential.
  • Support management in financial distress cases and automotive customer groups.
  • Work with internal stakeholders including buyers, Accounting & Finance, in-house and outside counsel, to develop contingency plans and mitigate risks.
  • In addition to financial analysis, this position will also have the opportunity to support growing supply chain due diligence & risk monitoring activities. These tasks will expose the TM to various other functions across TMNA including, but not limited to, External Affairs, Compliance & Audit Office, Toyota Legal One, Information Systems Cyber Risk & Government Affairs. Other responsibilities may include one of the following:

    • Supplier Safety
    • Cyber Security
    • Conflict Mineral Reporting
    • Labor Risks
    • And many other emerging risks

What you bring

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Finance or Accounting or 4+ years of equivalent professional experience in a Finance or Accounting role, including responsibility for analysis of company financial statements.
  • Professional experience in a Finance or Accounting role, including responsibility for analysis and evaluation of manufacturing company financials.
  • Experience with gap analysis and identifying trends with large scale data sets.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including macros, pivot tables, VLOOKUP.

  • Professional certification in one or more of the following (or similar): (List certifications)
    • CPA – Certified Public Accountant.
    • CIRA – Certified Insolvency & Restructuring Advisor.
    • CMA – Certified Management Accountant.
    • FRM – Financial Risk Manager (Global Association of Risk Professionals).
    • CTP – Certified Turnaround Professional.
    • CFA – Certified Financial Analyst.
  • Professional experience in a direct buying role, including responsibility for analysis and negotiation of product and manufacturing cost of automotive commodities.
  • Working experience with Microsoft Power BI (including data importation, slicer manipulation, report creation and troubleshooting).
  • Working experience with S&P Capital IQ platform.
