POSITION SUMMARY:
Under supervision of the Quality Assurance Manager, the Quality Assurance Coordinator is responsible for coordination of clinical documentation protocols and quality assurance procedures for the agency. The Quality Assurance Coordinator works closely with the Quality Assurance Manager to implement policies and procedures regarding documentation standards, track compliance, and provide related reporting and outcomes as needed. The Quality Assurance Coordinator will also guide the training and support systems of clinical staff in clinical documentation protocols and use of the Electronic Health Record system.
The Quality Assurance Coordinator will also hold a clinical caseload of 1-3 clients or perform clinical supervision for 1-3 unlicensed clinicians.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides Quality Review of clinical charts and progress notes to ensure compliance with state, county and agency standards.
- Identifies training issues.
- Serves as a member of the EPSDT Clinical Quality Review Team and consults with all clinical program managers and appropriate support staff to determine and implement best practices regarding chart documentation issues and contract compliance.
- Attends Alameda County Behavioral Health Care Services Quality Assurance meetings and training as directed by Quality Assurance Manager and coordinates integration of all information into agency protocols.
- Coordinates training and provides ongoing support to clinicians as it relates to clinical documentation, billing and the Electronic Health Record system.
- Oversees maintenance of training protocols and materials including the EPSDT documentation training manual.
- Coordinates with Billing Team and Clinical Records Specialist to track and report clinician compliance with billing and documentation protocols.
- Reports non-compliance of policy and procedures to Management staff
- Regularly reviews client files and operating processes for compliance with state, county and agency standards.
- Serves as the secondary information link between Alameda County Behavioral Health Care Services Quality Assurance department and the rest of the clinical staff.
- Approves CANS as needed.
- Attends department and other mandatory meetings and designated training events sponsored by or required by Family Paths.
- Develops and performs internal documentation-related training as needed.
- Provides data for reports and contracts as needed.
- Performs related duties as required.
Clinical Supervision (1-3 Supervisees)
- Provides individual supervision of unlicensed staff and/or trainees/interns in compliance with BBS guidelines.
- Assists individual supervisees in formulation of diagnoses and appropriate treatment goals to maintain clinical and program standards.
- Meets/speaks as needed with Program Manager(s), other Clinical supervisors and/or Clinical Director to discuss supervision and/or program issues as appropriate.
- Clinical license status must be current and renewed biennially with the Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS).
Or Client Service (1-3 clients)
- Initiates contacts with caregivers, children and referral sources to determine appropriateness for services.
- Assesses each client to determine appropriate diagnosis, treatment modality and interventions that meet cultural and language needs and strengths. Works with the client collaboratively to identify and set treatment goals that respond to the families’ values and strengths.
- Provides individual, play and/or family therapy, and conducts collateral sessions and case management support with significant support persons as needed with the regular use of discretion and judgment.
- Maintains an appropriate caseload and meets program billing goals as determined by program manager.
- Maintains client files according to County/State guidelines and meets timeline requirements.
- Travels throughout Alameda County to provide therapy in the home and/or community as appropriate.
- Provides case management, such as linking children and families to culturally and linguistically appropriate community resources and/or coordinating contacts with other service providers, including, but not limited to, schools, Social Service Agency and other mental health providers.
- Participates in case consultations with other Family Paths’ treatment team members staff as needed.
- Consults with Program and/or Clinical Supervisor on a regular basis.
REQUIREMENTS, QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Licensed MFT, LCSW or Ph.D. in California – minimum 2 years
- Knowledge of EPSDT/MediCal paperwork standards
- High level of attention to detail, organizational skills, flexibility, consistency and accountability.
- Understanding of organizational clinical documentation standards and ability to identify documentations that do not meet standards.
- Advanced computer skills/proficiencies; email, web, MS Word Suite (including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc). Previous database/Electronic Health Record systems experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully (both verbally and in writing).
- Ability to exercise good judgment and work independently on a day-to-day basis legally and ethically and to consult with supervisor when appropriate.
- Language skills that include the ability to read, analyze and interpret compliance and regulation guidelines and legal documents.
- Ability to adhere to strict deadlines and deliverables.
- Must have working knowledge of all laws pertaining to mental health in general and child abuse in particular.
- Knowledge of psychodynamic theory, attachment and trauma theories, psychopathology, family systems, and child abuse treatment and ability to apply this knowledge in a therapeutic relationship.
- Experience working with diverse client populations.
- Clinical experience working with low-income adults, couples, children and their families.
- Ability to support clinical learning for new therapists that is developmentally appropriate to their skill level.
Special Requirements:
- Must pass criminal records clearance.
- Requires some driving on agency business so must have access to reliable transportation, maintain a valid CA driver license, current auto insurance and a clean DMV record.
Work Environment:
- This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
- This is a telecommuter position that requires work in the field, office and/or an alternate work location (home).

COMPENSATION: $37.397-$38.332(Salary based on license type and experience).

WEEKLY HOURS: 37.50 (Full Time positions are based on a 37.50 work week)
