Job Description


The Lead Inspector will report directly to the Quality Manager and will, with minimal supervision, perform complex and difficult quality control inspection activities on assigned jobs or in functional areas to ensure that products being manufactured/repaired and shipped are in accordance with customer and Company requirements; and serves in a functional lead role, providing guidance, support, and leadership as needed to inspection staff.

  • Checks process documentation for completeness.
  • Provide guidance, support, and leadership to inspectors.
  • Work with and train quality and production workers in relation to Quality specific guidelines
  • Ensure inspectors are proficient in the use of all required precision measuring and test equipment, inspection techniques, and methods.
  • Work with supervisors and the Engineering Department to determine root causes of Quality Defects
  • Use, and train others on use of precision measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, etc.
  • Proficiently use and providing training on a wide variety of precision measuring and inspection equipment used to measure parts with tight tolerances, such as CMM’s, optical comparators, etc.
  • Keep management updated on significant issues or developments identified during quality activities and actions being taken to improve situations.
  • Ensure inspectors have available and understand technical data required to perform maintenance and make determinations of airworthiness
  • Ensures equipment is on hand and in good working order for required inspections
  • Aids the Quality Manager in determining the proficiency of inspection personnel.
  • Reviews Purchase Orders and shippers for accuracy.
  • Perform broad spectrum of inspection tasks including receiving, in-process and final inspections.
  • Documenting travelers after operations performed.
  • Regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Adhere to and promote Corporate Code of Ethical Standards.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable Company quality requirements.
  • Coordinating the flow of inspection work based on prioritized requirements, establishing priorities and availability/capability of workers and equipment
  • Performs other tasks in the facility as needed.

Qualifications
  • Ability to read, interpret blueprints and equipment manuals
  • Ability to read, interpret and understand work in-process documents
  • Basic math skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Self-motivated with a high level of ownership and accountability
  • Team building skills
  • Must be able understand, speak, read, and write in English
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Twenty four (24) months experience in the inspection of aerospace components.
  • Experience in multiple product lines preferred
