As our R&D Tax Lead, you will offer your specialized tax knowledge to the entire Finvisor team, as well as guide our small R&D department with your technical acumen. This role involves extensive coordination with clients through all aspects of the full-cycle process, and you may even be asked to sit in on the occasional sales call. This is a fast-paced and dynamic position that involves a high level of cross-functional interaction with our entire team. You will work closely with our Accounting, Payroll, and Compliance team members.

The ideal candidate is someone with 2+ years of R&D tax credit and/or ERC experience, along with great attention to detail, a client-oriented mindset, and the ability to both follow a process and initiate new ones when needed.

Responsibilities:

  • ERC Tax Analysis Support
  • Assist sales tax team with calculations and filings
  • Help pull reports and respond to open items for client’s tax preparer
  • Maintain consistent communication with clients to determine their eligibility for credits and gather the documentation needed to process their claims
  • Support payroll data analysis and calculations to help build out client ERC report packages
  • Work with clients to determine R&D project eligibility based on the 4 part test
  • Act as top review layer prior to document/report delivery
  • Investigate and respond to customer inquiries, concerns, and issues via phone and email in a timely and courteous manner
  • Other compliance duties/tasks/projects as needed
  • Problem-solving and contributing to the success of the team

Qualifications:

  • PTIN required, Enrolled Agent or CPA preferred
  • Associate degree in Accounting is preferred
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience performing similar job functions
  • Exposure to income tax forms, federal and state income tax filing process, payroll returns, etc.
  • Experience with QuickBooks, Xero, Gusto, ADP, and other accounting/payroll software Proficiency in Google Docs, Google Spreadsheets, and Microsoft Excel, ASANA
  • Polished written and verbal communication competence with an emphasis on timely, clear, and thoughtful responses to client inquiries and escalations
  • Capacity to represent both yourself and Finvisor professionally and intelligently in video communication settings
  • Ability to work independently and multitask with a can-do attitude
  • Skilled at managing priorities and identifying opportunities to delegate
  • Strong desire to tackle new challenges and projects with enthusiasm
