Idaho National Laboratory’s (INL) Quality Procurement and Construction group is seeking forward-thinking professionals interested in exploring a career as a Receiving Inspector.

Our team works an on-site 4x10 schedule located at our Sitewide facilities with every Friday off!

Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide receipt inspection support at both MFC and WestOne receipt inspection locations, as mission-support needs require.
  • Ensure compliance with DOE, Company, and customer-specific requirements applicable to Quality Inspection.
  • Perform and report visual, dimensional, mechanical, electrical and electronic inspection of supplier-furnished material and equipment, at the source or point of destination, in accordance with approved inspection planning documentation and applicable procedures.
  • Determine acceptability of supplier furnished material and equipment by properly interpreting design or manufacturing drawings; specifications; procurement documents; Asset Suite Catalog IDs; salient features lists; and industrial codes and standards.
  • Resolve or provide recommendations for resolution of material discrepancies as identified. Assure adequate and effective material status control at all times. Must be familiar with measurement equipment and principles of calibration. Competency in operation of tracking databases such as NCR (non-conformance reports), identifying suspect/counterfeit materials and following inspection plans.
  • Reinspect and accept quality related materials and equipment for return to stock, in accordance with company procedures and related inspection experience.
  • Review and verify acceptance for INL varying forms of data analysis, material certifications, and vendor supplied test data. Determine compliance to company and customer specifications, as well as nationally recognized standards, such as ASME, ASTM, IEEE, DOT 49 CFR (hazardous material packaging). Ascertain acceptability of test results for non-routine acceptance testing onsite and in suppliers facilities for final determination of compliance to design requirements.
  • Prepare reports and communicate, in a timely, clear, and concise manner, details of any potential discrepancies or nonconformances with inspected materials, equipment, or systems, in order to minimize potential impact on schedule and costs.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in working with and interpreting results of all metrology (M&TE) used during the inspection process.
  • Independently respond to internal/external customer service inquiries for material status, nonconformance resolution, and alternative corrective actions.
  • Conduct record reviews, participate in resolution of inspection or related issues, and maintain required logs and electronic tracking systems.
  • Continuously monitor and track M&TE inventory. Verify all M&TE is identified, correctly labeled, given appropriate status, and controlled at all times. Promote continuous improvement to reduce cost of calibration through appropriate analysis of actual M&TE usage.
  • Assure that all verification records are prepared, reviewed, validated, stored, and ultimately transferred to the records storage facility.
  • Maintain effective communication with peers, customers, management, and suppliers.
  • Assist with the development of new or revised procedures to reflect changes in QA programs, code and standard revisions, manufacturing practices, and lessons learned.
  • Provide feedback to the procurement quality engineers and requesters on various procedures/business systems that relate to quality assurance requirements for procurement activities.
  • Maintain specialized personnel certifications, qualifications, and skills, as the need arises, to support source surveillance and receiving inspection assignments.
  • Mentor, train, and assist with departmental trainees and less senior staff members.

QUALIFICATIONS


Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma plus 1-4 years of relevant receiving inspection experience.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Ability and willingness to travel, if necessary.
  • Experience conducting inspections and the utilization of M&TE.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing, fabrication and inspection processes including QC processes such as Non-Destructive Examination (NDE), dimensional, visual, and various forms of testing.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Knowledge and experience with NQA-1.
