Job Description

We are currently accepting resumes for a Renewable Projects Engineer to work in support of our expanding utility consulting and renewable energy services business. This highly motivated and qualified individual will perform consultancy and design work on high voltage electrical projects including transmission line, substation and renewable energy projects. The list of possible duties includes those noted below as well as other opportunities that may arise. Typical clients are EPC vendors and Independent Power Generators. You should also possess the desire to accept additional responsibilities and support the further development and growth of the company. The position is available in any of our four Maine offices or a remote location based on the qualified applicant.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform engineering services related to Solar, Wind and Storage projects
  • Develop drawing packages for high and medium voltage applications
  • Perform or review system studies and analysis for collector stations
  • Plan and coordinate projects with limited supervision
  • Participate in preparing proposals for associated scope
  • Develop and manage scope, schedule, and budget for associated projects
  • Ability to market and solicit work in a Seller-Doer business model

Responsibility for Direction of Others:

Will perform, supervise or coordinate the work associated with respective projects. Ensures a developmental environment, providing full disclosure on project assignments and encourages others. Position includes:

  • Work estimates and the development of proposals
  • Client communication and business development
  • Field work and investigations as needed
  • Review and understand client specific standards and requirements
  • Manage project deliverables with the objective of delivering on-time and under-budget
  • Communication with department management and project team
  • Train and develop personnel
  • Supports contractual negotiations

Education / Experience / Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology required
  • 5+ years of experience in an engineering consulting firm or other related work environment is required
  • Professional Engineering license or fast-track path to licensure is required
  • Strong understanding of utility interconnection process and requirements
  • Strong understanding of competitive electrical market and generator regulatory market
  • Must have familiarity with high and medium voltage collector systems for renewable assets
  • Familiarity with Distributed Generation technical requirements and applications is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge of principles and practices to broad areas of assignment
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience with electric utility or renewable energy projects required
  • Ability to interpret schematics, control logic, wiring diagrams and device programing is preferred
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite is required
  • Must successfully complete drug screening and background check, including 7-year criminal history check and Motor Vehicle Record check
  • Valid driver’s license required

  • Required to travel up to 10% to other offices, client meetings or for site inspections and construction support.
  • Required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity, such as keyboarding; most of the work day;

  • Required to exert physical effort in navigating rough native terrain, during field inspection occasionally
