Research Assistant, Department of Psychiatry - Georgetown University Medical Center
The mission of the
Department of Psychiatry
is to provide high quality mental health care and service to the community in an academic model that integrates teaching and research activities in everything we do. We are particularly focused on the integration of our mental health programs into our broader medical care system, ranging from our extensive outpatient programs serving Georgetown medical populations, to our research programs that study how to improve mental health for low-income medical patients.
Job Overview
The Department of Psychiatry has a clinical research program that includes clinical trials measuring the effect of treatments on anxiety and depressive disorders.
The Research Assistant, in a full-time role, support study operations in responsibilities that include but are not limited to:
  • Recruiting research subjects
  • Organizing all study related documents and computer records, performing data entry and data cleaning, and assisting presentations and manuscripts
  • Conducting the testing as part of functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging research
  • Training participants to perform psychological tasks in the scanner
Work Interactions
Reporting directly to Dr. Elizabeth Hoge, the Research Assistant supports the research mission of the University.
Qualifications
  • BA or BS in Psychology, Neuroscience, or related field
  • Experience in a health care, medical, or biological research project
  • Good organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Good record keeping skills
