The Department of Biological Sciences is recruiting Research Associates to work in the laboratory of Dr Paul Langridge to investigate cell-cell communication using the Drosophila fruit fly model organism. More info at the research is available at www.langridgelab.com

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform laboratory experiments relevant to a basic understanding of cell-cell communication and treatment of disease
  • Participate in project planning and development of research protocols.
  • Preparation of manuscripts for publication in scientific journals.
  • Assistance with grant preparation.
  • Coordination of research activities of graduate students, fellows, assistants and other employees.
  • Drosophila husbandry and maintenance
  • Supervision of undergraduate researchers
  • Molecular biology (DNA cloning)
  • Genetic Drosophila experiment

Required Qualifications

Master's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and experience in research, basic science or clinical laboratory particularly clinical trial research.
OR

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and a minimum of three years' research and/or clinical experience; previous supervisory experience.
