A postdoctoral research positions is available in the Banzhaf Lab of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at Michigan State University.

The research project focuses on:

• Method studies in Genetic Programming.
• Tool development for Genetic Programming and Evolutionary Computing.
• Evolutionary Machine Learning.
• Development of innovative applications of Genetic Programming.

The successful candidate will be expected to conceptualize algorithms and systems, write code, conduct numerical experiments, collect and analyze data, give presentations about the research, write papers and provide progress reports to the Principal Investigator, teach classes and mentor undergraduate and graduate students in the lab.

This position is a 12-month fixed term appointment. Renewal of position is based on funding and performance.

Minimum Requirements

• PhD or equivalent degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or related field.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience in evolutionary computing, genetic programming in particular.
• Knowledge in Machine Learning (Deep Learning) is an advantage.
• Excellent communication skills are essential.
