The Department of Ophthalmology seeks a Research Program Assistant II who offers friendly, courteous, and confidential assistance to every patient to ensure that the patient has a positive experience while at Johns Hopkins. This position will maintain accurate information on each patient to facilitate the patient research encounter. The Research Program Assistant II will coordinate administrative implementation of ophthalmic clinical research projects for multiple PIs. They will work collaboratively with study team members to assure that study deliverables and report schedules are met as required by the granting agencies and track completion of assigned tasks. This position works with others in a team environment.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

Collect study data by recruiting and coordinating activities of study participants.
Helping project lead in organizing research portfolio and events.
Data entry in study database, resolving issues with missing data.
Organizing and maintaining research files.
Contact referring physicians and employs other strategies for recruitment.
Assisting with patient visit scheduling and escort patients during study visits.
Support other research activities.
Serve as liaison between investigator and IRB for administrative matters.
Preparing study recruitment and education materials.
Operating basic office machines and tablets.
Lend general support to office as needed, includes filing, record keeping and other duties as assigned based on the needs of the research program.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
Candidate must have exceptional organizational skills
Self-starter with a high degree of initiative.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or graduation equivalent.
Two years related experience.
Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications

BS preferred.

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
