Position Summary:
Provides crisis evaluation/interventions for mental health and substance abuse emergencies the Institute for Behavioral Health. Services are available seven days a week, 24 hours a day.
Performs duties in support of the Medical Center mission to ensure the highest quality of patient care in an economically sound and efficient manner.

Accountabilities/Criteria
- Assists in the ongoing assessments of all patients entering Crisis as evidenced by appropriate completion of all intake papers and written assessments.
- Aids in the disposition of all patients evaluated as witnessed by the successful completion of CMCH Disposition form
- Demonstrates a working knowledge of all third party payer pre-certification information and follows given protocols as seen by successful completion of written documentation.
- Triages incoming telephone calls appropriately and respectfully as indicated by peer reports/observation and client satisfaction survey.
- Maintains current knowledge of local resources within the community and accesses them as appropriate, as witnessed by assessment documentation and telephone log.
- Completes recording information with clarity and accuracy and in a timely manner as evidenced by appropriate completion of assessment forms and logs.
- Accesses appropriately the various on-call systems within the Institute for Behavioral Health as evidenced by written documentation in patients clinical file.
- Coordinates the petitioning of involuntary commitments by consumers as indicated by the completion of appropriate paperwork as well as consistent feedback by the County office of Mental Health.
- Demonstrates sensitivity, empathy and an ability to establish clear rapport with patients in the crisis service as measured by peer report and patient satisfactions surveys.
- Assures patient and co-worker safety by adhering to appropriate policies concerning restraints and violent patients as seen by clinical documentation and PERTS forms.
Maintains licensure and certification as required by Job Requirements and provides documentation.
Willingly and readily, assists all internal and external customers as needed, looking beyond individual scope of service. Assists customers through resolution of problem whenever possible. In instances where assistance cannot be provided personally, directs customer to the appropriate individual and/or location.

Demonstrates an understanding of and adheres to all Medical Center and departmental policies and procedures as witnessed by on-going supervision and chart review.
Attends Medical Center annual mandatory inservice programs and maintains current knowledge of safety practices as demonstrated by Record of Inservice/Continuing Education and performs duties in accordance with established procedures.
Participates in the quality improvement process of the Department and/or Medical Center.
Participates in educational programs, including obtaining Continuing Education Credits, and inservice meetings to enhance skills and development, as demonstrated by Record of Inservice/Continuing Education.
Maintains and enhances professional growth and development through educational programs, workshops, and professional affiliations.
Attends meetings and participates on committees as required.
