Second Press Operator Job at LaunchNW
The Second Pressperson assists the Head Pressperson in all areas of set-up, running, and maintenance of assigned press equipment.
- A minimum of two years Roll Tender experience required
- Ability to lift up to 75-100 pounds occasionally
- Ability to complete paper and ink usage reports using computer program.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Knowledge of basic math skills; add, subtract, multiply, divide whole numbers, fraction and decimals.
- Full job knowledge and capability of Jogger and Roll Tender.
- Capable of operating press when necessary (after receiving sufficient instruction).
- Thorough knowledge of register.
Duties:
- Be backup to the Head Pressperson.
- Assist in completing shift reports.
- Assist Head Pressperson with Jogger and Feeder training.
- Ensure entire crew follows safety procedures.
- Ensure general cleanliness of press from front of press to roll stand and the area around and in between presses.
- Set units, folder-sheeter and stackers for various press folds and runs.
- Check printed material on a regular basis for consistency and accuracy of cut off and fold and any other imperfections. Notify Head Pressperson immediately of discrepancies and/or notify Head Pressperson of actions taken to fix a problem.
- Assist Head Pressperson in the management of the crew and the efficient operation of the press.
- Perform routine maintenance on press.
10 hour shifts: start either at 6am or 6pm
