The Opportunity
The Internal Audit function provides independent, objective assurance services to assist Resolution Life Australasia (RLA) accomplish its objectives. Internal Audit’s vision is to provide relevant, timely and insightful advice using a data driven and collaborative approach to help RLA achieve its objectives and key results.
The primary purpose of the role is to assist the internal audit team in the provision of independent, objective and insightful assurance on the effectiveness of RLA’s governance, risk management and control processes. With a need for more data analytics in 2023, this role is created to assist the current team. For this role you will enjoy working within an energetic, dynamic and high performing team that has exposure across the entire organisation and has access to all levels of management and the Board. You also enjoy contributing to new and innovative ways of working outside traditional audit approaches in order to:
- Support the Internal Audit team to be data driven, highly customer centric, fully embracing Enterprise Agile, contemporary with ‘outside the box’ thinking to ensure the achievement of its vision, strategic / audit plan and governance obligations
- Help the IA team to deliver high quality and insightful audit reporting to the RLA Audit Committee and subsidiary ACs.
- Maintain effective, constructive and professional relationships with Senior Management while conducting audits and during any other interactions.
- To lead delivery of Internal Audit assignments in accordance with the RLA Internal Audit Methodology and Key Success Criteria.
- Experience in managing and coaching Internal Audit staff and to ensure that all audit work is performed with proficiency and due professional care, including the application of sufficient knowledge, skills and competence to perform audits effectively.
Your Story
- Extensive assurance experience in leading Internal Audit engagements with proven ability to test Finance and Actuarial processes and controls. Experience in the Life Insurance industry will be highly valued
- Sound understanding of the financial services industry, relevant regulators, and current and proposed financial services regulatory requirements will be highly valued
- Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), IFRS 17 Insurance Contracts and US GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) will be highly valued
- Comprehensive knowledge of internal / external audit methodologies, with demonstrated ability in adding value in providing these services
- Strong report writing, presentation and verbal communications skills
- Sound understanding of financial and operational risks inherent or emerging in a business area
- Proven customer service orientation.
Qualification/s required
- Graduate qualifications in Accounting/Finance or equivalent field
- CA /CPA or equivalent post graduate qualification is desirable
- Internal Audit Qualification (Graduate Certificate in Internal Auditing / CIA) / Member of the Institute of Internal Auditors – desirable.
