Senior CNC Operator - Machine Shop - 2nd Shift Job at Piper Aircraft Inc
Responsible for assisting the Supervisor in the production of high quality Machined aircraft parts following Piper Drawings, Process Specifications (PPS) and other manufacturing instructions. Assists in meeting or exceeding planned production and delivery schedules while maximizing company resources to achieve company goals.
Essential Job Functions: Performs or assists the Supervisor in the following tasks:
- Serves as the lead with the ability to and willingness to receive and share practical knowledge, train, cross-train and mentor teammates within career path to perform necessary job functions and requirements in order to attain satisfactory levels of performance and production effectivity.
- Operates all Machine Shop CNC Mills, or all CNC lathes, or all Manual/Vertical Mills.
- Performs root cause and corrective action of nonconforming material in order to reduce Machine Shop defects and scrap material.
- Improves Machine Shop operational performance by completing cost savings activities such as tooling improvements, reduction of set up times, eliminating waste, etc.
- Serves as lead with the ability to guide and willingness to receive and share practical knowledge, train, cross-train and mentor teammates within career path to perform necessary job functions and requirements in order to attain satisfactory levels of performance and production effectivity.
- Adhere, maintain, assist and train teammates within career path to all departmental compliance requirements such as Safety, Environmental Protection, FOD and Tool Control, 5S and other assigned programs.
- Perform audits of areas within the department as required to maintain compliance with all FAA and Piper operational requirements. Initiate related operational process or procedural corrective action, or request additional assistance from leadership or other support teams where necessary.
- Perform duties of lower graded position within Career Path and other duties as assigned by supervision

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Successful completion CNC Machine Operator program or 2 years’ experience preferred
- Related CNC Machine Experience Requirements:
- Ability to work scheduled shift and hours, including overtime
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Use of hand and power tools as required
- Follow all safety procedures
- Ability to demonstrate sound judgement and effective communication skills (written and verbal).
