PROMAN has partnered with a Chicagoland hardware fixture legend to hire a SENIOR COST ACCOUNTANT to join their Des Plaines, Illinois office. This is a DIRECT HIRE opportunity.

This position acts as plant controller for both the Michigan City, Indiana and Milwaukee, Wisconsin manufacturing facilities.

Senior cost accountant duties and responsibilities:

Departmental Management:

• Participate in the Management Review process to evaluate the performance of EQMS.
• Lead the accounting function at Michigan City, IN and Milwaukee, WI facilities.
• Develop, monitor, and control the department budget.
• Directs financial affairs of the Michigan City and Milwaukee plant. (25%)
• Conduct month-end close activities; ensuring activities are completed in accordance with the stated corporate timeframe.
• Directs inventory valuation activities.
• Develops standard product costing.
• Ensure all accounting is performed in accordance with the company accounting manual

Directs preparation of budgets and financial forecasts:

• Review budget proposals and prepare necessary supporting documentation and justifications.
• Preparing, coordinating, and processing budgeting, forecasting, and planning requirements.
• Monitor established budgets on a monthly basis, providing guidance and assistance where needed to management.
• Performs monthly and quarterly reporting.
• Analyzing and interpreting plant operation results, evaluating variances, and assessing the effects on the plant operations.
• Preparing and managing actual, forecast and budget scenarios throughout the course of the year.
• Providing daily weekly and monthly reports for plant and corporate management.
• Meet all reporting requirements within stated timeframe.

Business partner with Plant Manager to effectively manage and control all facets of the plant’s efficiency and productivity:

• Participates in managing plant performance on improvement goals and KPI’s.
• Evaluate plant cost structure and identify and assist management with structural cost reductions to keep the plant cost competitive in the industry.
• Analyze capital investments to ensure they meet the company’s hurdle rate and are consistent with the company’s strategic plans.

Directs and manages the parent company internal control system:

• Ensure full compliance and improvement to site through company Internal Control requirements.
• Identify and appropriately mitigate known business risks.
• Proactively seek and improve any deficiencies.
• Set the proper routines to ensure proper controls.

Senior cost accountant education and experience

Required:

• BS/BA degree in Accounting or Finance
• 5+ years of cost accounting/manufacturing experience
• 3+ years of experience in ERP systems software (SAP preferred)
• 5+ years of experience in compiling annual operating plans and budgets
• 3+ years of experience in operational accounting (cost accounting, KPI’s)
