JOB PURPOSE

The Senior Credit and Collection Specialist manages the collection of outstanding accounts receivables from clients. This is a critical role on the Accounting team responsible for enhancing firm collection activities, boosting firm revenue and accelerating cash flow. The Senior Credit and Collection Specialist is tasked with reducing Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) numbers within the department.

WHERE YOU WILL WORK

This role is designated for a hybrid work schedule with 2 days in office per week to facilitate collaboration with key stakeholders and 3 remote days per week.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


  • Ensure efficient, timely, and accurate payment of invoices
  • Resolve issues on outstanding invoices
  • Keep track of assigned accounts to identify outstanding invoices
  • Plan course of action with clients to recover outstanding payments
  • Contract clients to inquire about payment status via email and phone
  • Negotiate payment deadlines or payment plans
  • Handle questions, investigate and resolve discrepancies on outstanding invoices
  • Update account status on tracking systems
  • Work with Billing Attorney as needed on various collection issues
  • Make recommendations for accounts to be placed with outside collection agency
  • Initiate write-off requests as necessary
  • Research new client credit lines

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Proven experience with three years as a business to business collector
  • Superior client service mindset
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with attorneys, clients, management and staff
  • Intermediate Excel proficiency – filters, Vlook ups
  • Impeccable attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize for maximum efficiency and effectiveness
  • Creative problem-solving skills
  • Self-starter who can effectively work independently
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment with deadline-driven workload
  • Negotiation skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications
  • Basic Accounting and collection sills

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED

  • Working knowledge of 3E
  • Previous billing experience

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Undergraduate degree or 2-year certificate preferred
  • 3 or more years of collection experience

PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF POSITION

Work is performed in a professional office environment and requires the following during the workday:

  • Remain in a stationary position for long periods of time (working at a computer)
  • Move/traverse about inside the office intermittently throughout the day (attend meetings, access file cabinets, obtain supplies from supply room, etc.)
  • Operate computer and other office equipment such as a copy machine, printer, telephone, etc.
  • Perform activities with repetitive movements (e.g., heavy computer/keyboard use).
  • Skill with verbal, in-person, and written communication
  • Ability to lift small amounts of weight (copy paper, etc.)
