Senior Data Scientist
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Data Scientist who shall carry out the coordinated organization, direction, and implementation of complex and interrelated projects in support of our clients in our analytics portfolio. The Senior Data Scientist is responsible to day-to-day client management, program deliverables, client relations, and service delivery to support a growing portfolio of analytics programs.
This is a HYBRID, on-site role in Ft. Belvoir, VA.
Responsibilities
- The Data Scientist understands unit objectives and develops models to enable mission completion, along with metrics to track model progress and effectiveness
- Analyze algorithms with potential to solve customer problems, and ranks them by success probability
- Explore datasets and verifies data quality to gain an understanding of relevant data, then identifies differences in data distribution that could affect performance when deploying the machine learning model in an operational environment
- Identify and condition datasets for machine learning test uses
- Tune machine learning model hyper‐parameters
- Visualize and manipulate big datasets
- Responsible for conducting qualitative event uncertainty and risk analysis, as well as quantification of cost and schedule risk
- Responsible for recommending and implementing risk mitigation actions
- Support quantitative and qualitative integrated assessments of risk across entire projects, and to assess the uncertainties (including work scope gaps, normal estimating, variability error, and risk events) associated with integrated baseline activities and activities and assist in the implementation of the risk mitigation actions
- Identify and prioritize risk events in the integrated baselines
- Perform qualitative analysis to forecast an accurate and realistic project schedule to anticipate potential areas of high risk and uncertainty
- Perform advanced risk analysis and associate risk items to direct impacts on scope/cost/schedule, and operations/intelligence/institutional/organizational missions and activities
- Function independently and can present/defend the risk status to senior management
Qualifications
- Security Clearance Required: Active DoD TS (Must be active and able to maintain this level of clearance)
- Education:
- Bachelors’ Degree in relevant field, may be substituted for ten (5-10) years total of relevant experience
- Required Knowledge/Experience:
- Minimum ten (5-10) years experience of project management experience in the federal space
- Proficient with deep learning frameworks, and also has proficiency with Python, R, MS SQL, and basic libraries (such as Scikit‐Learn and Pandas)
- Familiar with Linux and proficient with OpenCV
- Experience with managing contract financials, and contract management & CDRLs
- Proven project portfolio, program and project manager experience and sound understanding of the principles and frameworks of successful project management
- Proven experience in providing service, effectively interacting and relationship building with internal and external stakeholders to achieve successful project outcomes
- Demonstrated capability for problem solving, decision making, sound judgment, assertiveness
- Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively interact with senior management from customer/partner companies as well as senior customer officials
- Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as excellent presentation skills
- Must be able to understand multi-level customer/user expectations and concerns
- Ability to set and manage priorities judiciously
- Keen attention to detail
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Preferred Knowledge/Experience:
- Understanding of Human Resources, employee performance improvement plans, and corrective action policies
- Experience with task-based contracts
- Certified Program of Project Management Professional (PgMP or PMP) with the Project Management Institute (PMI)
- Experience with Microsoft Project
- Security Clearance:
- TS with the ability to gain special access program (SAP) read‐on to work on‐site
Other Responsibilities
- Perform other tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of the department/contract
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Must comply with all federal COVID-19 related vaccination and testing requirements, including, but not limited to, those set out in Executive Order 14042
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $170,000.00 - $195,000.00 per year
