TRD is looking for a Senior Engineer, Manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop plans and designs for manufacturing processes and procedures used for production and development manufacturing.
- Collaborate closely with Engineering Design team on engineering designs to be manufactured.
- Responsible for programming CNC machines to produce tangible components within significantly tight tolerances from engineering designs.
- Maximize efficiency by optimizing the working processes on the Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining machine.
- Determine parts and tools needed to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specification and be familiar with a variety of workflow concepts, practices, and procedures.
Required Qualifications:
- BS in Mechanical Engineering (or similar discipline) or equivalent with an emphasis on Aerospace and/or automotive manufacturing
- Expert using CAM system such as HyperMill, PowerMill, Esprit, etc.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in programming, tooling and/or fixture design in the metal cutting industry.
- Experience on defining machining process with multiple operations, milling, turning, etc.
- Experience with multi 5 axis machine controls
- Direct hands-on experience interacting with machine shop floor activities in a fast, dynamic environment.
- Detailed understanding of GD&T to ANSI standards
- Expert on analyzing and interpretation of engineering drawings.
- Must be able to review CAD design models and drawings, understand geometric tolerances and dimensioning schemes and know how this would relate to CNC tool path definition to manufacture technically described components.
- Able to provide engineering technical feedback on new designs to ease manufacturability and reduce costs.
- Familiar with CNC machines and Heidenhain driven programming.
- Familiar with general machine shop tools and processes, i.e. manual lathes, mills, inspection gages, CMM machines, shipping and receiving.
- Expert knowledge of 4 and 5 axis CNC machining center programming.
Preferred Qualifications:
- In-depth knowledge of 4 or 5 axis CNC machining center programming.
- Experience in small volume/high quality and prototype machining of ferrous components would be an advantage, as would any prior education in ISO, TQM, Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma systems.
- Experience in the automotive industry.
- Experience with Kaizen, 5S, continuous improvement and lean manufacturing practices.
- Experience with ISO 9001 requirements, thorough knowledge of “corrective action process”
- Communications skills required consist of the ability to convey necessary information and instruction to shop floor personnel as well as the ability to write reports to managers and peers.
- Experience working with exotic materials a plus.
- Experience using advanced tools and tooling concepts a plus.
- Understands kinematic capabilities of 5 axis machines, so that toolpath definition complies with machines working envelope.
- Be able to understand inspection reports regarding a component machining quality and be able to modify toolpath motion or fixturing concepts for production engineering to improve the manufacturing process if necessary. This could also include communicating with the tooling engineer/vendor to supply advanced technical feedback for tool design enhancements.
- Be able to use material removal and machine simulation software to identify manufacturing problems and modify as necessary to avoid these problems, i.e. overloading tool engagement, rapid through material conditions, holder/machine collisions with part, fixture, or rotary tables.

The annual base salary range for this position is
$108,200.00 - $175,800.00Belonging at Toyota
