Senior Outcomes Research Educator Job at HCA Healthcare
Introduction
The Senior Outcomes Research Educator is responsible for leading and coordinating feasibility as well as educating stakeholders for records-based studies for the HCA Healthcare Research Institute (HRI). This includes the review and interpretation of proposed and finalized study designs to identify operational considerations for implementation and execution of records-based clinical research evaluating patient safety and outcomes. This role serves as a data-focused liaison between HRI colleagues, HCA stakeholders (corporate-level, facilities and physician practices), HRI support teams, sponsors and contract research organizations (CROs).
Job Summary and Qualifications
Develop the operational plan so a study may be conducted by utilizing the study design, protocol and other study-related documents- Work with Regulatory Affairs Specialists to ensure study design and protocol are in compliance with IRB-approved guidelines
- Provide inputs to development and assessment of study proposals and budgets with HRI finance and business development colleagues
- Schedule and lead study review meetings to discuss protocol details and potential barriers with data engineers, data scientists/biostatisticians, and research personnel
- Identify solutions to study barriers and proactively implement solutions to potential obstacles
- Review the study statistical analysis plan (SAP) and data management plan (DMP) with HRI Outcomes Investigators and Data Scientists ensuring they comply with current SOPs and are ready for implementation when study is initiated
- Support study kick-off meetings in partnership with Clinical Study Manager and business development colleagues to finalize protocol details, operational plan, and oversight with data and research personnel prior to or immediately after sponsor agreements execution
- Maintain and keep updated study specific tools and training tools in electronic data storage systems
- Serve as the data-related operations resource for study activities, as necessary
- Develop relationship with clinical project manager/s within sponsor and contract research organizations (CRO) to ascertain study details and operational plans related to specific study protocols
- Document all pertinent correspondence pertaining to study initiation activity in Salesforce
- Present data-related details and pending action items during Protocol Review Meetings
- Develop and maintain excellent relationships with research and data-related personnel, HCA research and IT colleagues, HRI management, physicians, and ancillary departments
- Provide support to research and IT personnel by creating and maintaining a direct connection between the research personnel and ancillary departments, facilitating a teamwork environment
- Collaborate with business development colleagues, research personnel, and data-related operation teams to facilitate a smooth transition into study execution
- Operationally review all study change-order and amendments. Identify budgetary, contract, regulatory, and data-source needs related to changes and communicate all necessary changes to be implemented by specific personnel
- Attend data-operation calls, weekly departmental meetings, and ancillary department meetings as data-operations support and elicit new information as needed
- Assist with onboarding for new data focused team members, training on department policies, procedures and workflows as needed
What qualifications you will need:
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- 5+ years of experience in at least one of the following: records-based research inclusive of clinical, clinical trial, biomarker, translational, population sciences, epidemiology, bioinformatics, and/or equivalents
This role requires you to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 based on local, state and /or federal law or regulations (unless a medical or religious exemption is approved).
