Senior Program Associate Job at The World Justice Project
The World Justice Project’s Engagement Team is seeking a full-time Senior Program Associate at WJP’s office in Washington, DC.
This position will report directly to the Director of Engagement to provide crucial programmatic and logistics support in design, management, and outreach for WJP’s signature programs, knowledge products, networking, and events. These include the World Justice Challenge prize competition and alumni network, World Justice Forum, Rule of Law Index, and related webinars, conferences, roundtables, and briefings. The position also requires systematic collection and analysis of data regarding WJP’s growing global network, including through its Salesforce database.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The main responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Provide substantive support to the World Justice Challenge, a global competition to identify, recognize, and promote good practices that protect and advance the rule of law, by contributing to the competition’s development and execution, leading on Challenge-related outreach and online events, supporting partnerships, and managing engagement with Challenge participants.
- Manage elements of the World Justice Challenge Alumni Network to engage and support a growing global community of rule of law changemakers. Oversee the network’s online platform and the development and execution of online quarterly events. Support program design and fundraising.
- Serve as team lead for the Engagement team’s network database in Salesforce. Design and execute systems for network analysis, maintenance, and reporting for use in outreach activities.
- Manage and support various aspects of event organization and logistics of the World Justice Forum, Rule of Law Index launch, Asia Pacific regional events, and other strategic convenings.
- Represent WJP externally in presentations, meetings, and other outreach activities.
- Support the dissemination and uptake of WJP research and data to policy-makers, development agencies, rule of law implementers, and the broader rule of law movement, including through the development of communications materials, presentations, and other strategies to reach these audiences.
- Design and implement occasional surveys of WJP’s growing network of rule of law actors around the world.
- Recruit and supervise interns.
Qualifications
Candidates should be familiar with and fully committed to the WJP’s mission and principles (see www.worldjusticeproject.org). The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and qualifications:
- Experience supporting the work of rule of law/access to justice/human rights actors from around the world, particularly civil society organizations.
- Experience with in-person and online event planning and execution. Significant understanding of online event operations, including Zoom.
- Knowledge of online constituency databases; Salesforce experience strongly preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal comprehension and expression in English; proficiency in an additional language preferred.
- Proficiency with public speaking; ability to effectively deliver presentations and represent WJP at external meetings and events.
- Superb attention to detail, critical thinking and problem solving skills, including evaluating options and implementing solutions.
- Ability to prioritize workload and daily assignments efficiently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, follow through on issues in a timely manner, and meet deadlines.
- Highly dependable, with the ability to interact with staff at all levels and work in a team-oriented environment, as well as ability to be flexible and work independently with little supervision.
- Ability to travel (occasionally).
- A BA in international relations, political science, or a related field and at least five years of relevant experience OR MA with three years of experience.
Location
The position will be based in the WJP Washington, DC office. WJP maintains a hybrid in-office/remote work schedule, with staff expected to work from the office at least three days per week.
Physical Requirements
While performing the responsibilities of the job, this person will frequently be required to use finger dexterity as well as sufficient hand dexterity to use a computer keyboard and be capable of reading a computer screen. This person may need to remain seated for long periods of time, have the ability to perform repetitive motions, grasp objects, including a writing instrument, stand, communicate verbally and hear well enough to detect nuances, and receive detailed information. This person may be required to walk, push or pull objects, bend, squat, reach, or kneel. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision for extensive reading. The work conditions described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing this job. This person will typically work indoors in a heated and air-conditioned office, with a mixture of natural, incandescent and fluorescent light with low to moderate noise levels.
