JOB SPECIFICATIONS
  • Title: Sr. Director of Tribal Programs Expansion
  • Reports to: Associate Vice President of Specialized Programs
  • Department: Program Operations, Program Operations Division, Central Office
  • Location: Anadarko, Oklahoma (Remote workspace)
  • Classification & Status: Exempt, Full-Time
  • Work Schedule: 40-hour work week, approximately 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to and directed by the Associate Vice President of Specialized Programs, the Sr. Director of Tribal Programs Expansion will be responsible for expansion, coordination, and implementation of all operations dedicated specifically to serving Native youth. The Sr. Director of Tribal Programs Expansion will work to expand services by developing relationships with Tribal Nations and identifying appropriate school districts with Native populations. In consultation with the Development Department this position will assist with the identification of resources necessary to operate existing programs and to expand services. This position includes both in and out of state travel. The Sr. Director of Tribal Programs Expansion is responsible to help implement the vision and goals of the Agency as articulated by the President & CEO.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
Expansion of Tribal Programs
  • Identify school districts with native student populations desiring ISS services.
  • Connect with key stakeholders in the school districts.
  • Meet with district leaders to provide a proposal for services and funding needs.
  • Marketing and Public Relations.
Tribal Relationships & Associations
  • Hold all stakeholder relationships with Tribal Leadership.
  • Maintain membership in National and State level Native Education organization.
  • Attend National and State level conferences and/or convenings for Native Educational organizations or associations (Including, but not limited to NIEA, OIE, Oklahoma Indian Education, OIEC).
Community Oversight
  • Establish and maintain outstanding working relationships with key constituencies for the agency including leading school administrators, business executives, local government officials, Native education organizations.
Operational Oversight
  • Provide support and leadership to the Program Director ensuring that all performance measures and contractual obligations are met including direct and indirect budgetary responsibilities.
  • Support direct management and supervision for assigned operational areas and the Program Director.
  • Participate in the selection of site-based staff as needed.
  • Provide leadership and direction to Program Director in the successful implementation of the Model of Integrated Student Supports, to ensure that all ISS quality standards are met.
Resource Development
  • Maintain administrative relationships with funders including regular programmatic meetings.
  • Assist with all required funding reports requested by funders as requested by the Development Department.
  • Research and identify funding opportunities for ISS work with Native students.
  • Work closely with the Development department to determine potential funders and expansion efforts.
Other Position Functions
  • Meet the performance measures and outcomes within any special grants under the direction of this position. As applicable, a description of these measures and outcomes will be provided, along with the support, direction, and guidance to achieve them.
  • Budget management.
  • Attends key events and promotes SparkWheel, Inc..
  • Develops, promotes and practices teamwork in all activities.
  • Refrains from assuming any duty that is unrelated to and/or interferes with the responsibilities of the position.
  • Advocates, promotes and practices cultural sensitivity and responsiveness in all day-to-day interactions.
  • Other duties as assigned by the President & CEO.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in social work, education, public administration, or related field required. Master's Degree (MSW or similar) preferred. In addition, the Sr. Director of Tribal Programs Expansion shall have:
  • At least one to three years of management experience.
  • Previous supervisory experience. Experience in working with schools especially with Native American populations and/or at-risk students, program implementation and administration, volunteer training, case management and proven leadership skills. Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with school administrators, personnel, students, parents and the public.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
  • Excellent knowledge and experience of computer applications such as word processing, Excel, electronic data tracking, internet, Facebook, etc.
  • Demonstrated superior written and oral communication skills.
  • In connection with the administration of the Department of Education grant which funds this position, this employment opportunity is subject to the provisions of section 7(b) of the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act (Pub. L. 93-638) which gives employment preference to Native Americans. Additionally, preference will be given to individuals with personal lived expertise in Native American culture.
