The position’s primary functions are to assist the Textbook Coordinator in the maintenance of the textbook division, to support the bookstore’s daily operations as well as all store closing functions, to provide leadership to staff and student workers during evening shift, and to manage the eCommerce and online order processes. The position reports to the Textbook Coordinator.
Responsibilities
Assist Textbook Coordinator with the acquisition of course material adoptions, sourcing and ordering of course materials, and effective communication with faculty and academic administrators to address any adoption issues or discrepancies; and serve as a back-up person when Textbook Coordinator is absent.
Manage the eCommerce processes, including but not limited to: processing and shipping bookstore online orders, developing and maintaining all online product catalogs, and training and guiding staff on the online order process.
Assist in maintaining proper textbook inventory levels based on daily registration statistics including but not limited to: sourcing and ordering course materials, and preparing textbook area and textbooks for sale.
Oversee textbook area during evening shift, with primary responsibilities including
but not limited to processing and shipping online orders, receiving and sorting textbook inventory, performing merchandise and textbook transfers, and training and supervising evening staff and student workers.
Coordinate with Lead Associate to provide supervision to staff and student workers during evening shift, in order to ensure all closing tasks are completed successfully and efficiently, including but not limited to evening cash balancing, securing all doors, and cleaning and straightening all areas of the bookstore.
Provide prompt and courteous customer service including but not limited to: operating cash register for sales and refunds, assisting students with buy backs, communicating and selecting correct course materials to students, and assisting students with questions and concerns via phone, email, and Live Chat.
Process and manage E-files for students with accessibility needs.
Support bookstore data analyses regarding textbook adoption, new textbook initiatives, textbook sales, physical inventory, year-end processes, audit, etc.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred.
Two years related work experience in retail preferred, including but not limited to:
Point of sale systems
Sales and customer service experience
Supervisory experience
Inventory management
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of college faculty, administrators, staff, and student populations.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Flexibility to work at both bookstore locations based on operational needs.
Experience in building and maintaining professional relationships with vendors, textbook publishers and wholesalers, or other college bookstores preferred.
Valid driver’s license, required to allow ability to travel between all Waubonsee Community College campuses as needed.
Ability to move or handle merchandise throughout the store generally weighing 0–50 pounds.
