Server Assistant

SUMMARY:

This position supports the Service Management Team in providing service to patrons of BRAVO! by cleaning the restaurant prior to opening, cleaning, setting and resetting tables in the dining room, transporting dirty dishes, glassware, and utensils to the dishwashing area, transporting clean dishes back to the dining room, and breaking down the dining room after close. The Server Assistant also supports the Server by pouring water/iced tea, stocking bread baskets, stocking ices, and maintaining a clean premise. The Server Assistant fulfills the maintenance work of the dining room, cleans & maintains the rest rooms, and sweeps, vacuums and mops the dining room and guest bathroom floors.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

• Preferred: High School Diploma or Equivalent
  

Experience:

• Preferred: Service or the equivalent experience at full service restaurant

Skills:

• Must be able to communicate with individuals from different backgrounds
• Must possess strong interpersonal skills
• Must possess organizational skills
• Must possess the ability to adapt in a changing environment

Physical:

• Use of legs and feet, arms and hands, walk, stand, and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Able to see and hear within normal standards with corrective devices if necessary.

Mental:

• Read, write, and speak English, basic math skills, work under pressure

WORKING CONDITIONS:

This person will work in a dining room of a full service restaurant which is a temperature controlled environment subject to moderate noise. This person will be subject to hazards associated with food serving and clearing including: slippery surfaces, crowded walk ways, sharp utensils, broken glassware and dishes, and hot food and liquids.

The working hours are dependent on the weekly schedule established by the Service Manager of a six-day-per-week, busy restaurant.

Hours worked, however, must reflect the actual time required for successful completion of a project/task.

This is a variable position and as such, there is no guarantee for a specific number of hours.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

The Server Assistant reports to the Service Manager or the Assistant Service Manager.

DUTIES AND TASKS:

• 
  Busses tables, cleans tabletops and chairs, resets tables, and picks up food & raffia from the floor
• Performs general clean up duties as necessary and appropriate during any slow period.
• Before opening, fulfills dining room cleaning duties: move tables and chairs off carpeted areas and vacuums, replaces tables and chairs on carpeted areas, moves tables and chairs on concrete areas and sweeps thoroughly, sweeps table bases, wipes down flat surfaces, moves tables and chairs to proper outside dining locations.
• After closing, empties all bus tubs, clears dining room and wait stations of all dirty dishes, refus, food scrapes, dirty glassware & utensils. Empties all trash and garbage and assures the cans are clean, do not smell, and have fresh liners.
• Empties trash containers.
• Accepts responsibility for the cleanliness of their area and everything within it.
• Delivers dirty dishes, utensils and glassware from dining room to kitchen.
• Delivers clean dishes, utensils and glassware from kitchen to dining room.
• Carries and empties full bus tubs in kitchen.
• Performs assigned opening and closing sidework chores before end of shift to maintain the dining room ambiance and supplies to minimize shortages, mess, and confusion.
• Performs all other tasks/duties necessary as may be assigned by the positions manager.
