Job Overview
Service of food and/or beverage. This task is to be handled in a friendly, courteous, helpful, timely, and professional manner resulting in a very high level of guest satisfaction
Essential Job Functions
- Check the dining room before, during, and after shifts for proper set-up and cleanliness. Comply with all uniform and grooming standards of the Hotel and assure compliance by other staff members. Assure the safety of own and others by informing and training proper use of Food Service Equipment.
- Train and/or retrain new and existing Servers and Buss Boys on Performance of proper service tenuous, Side Jobs, Check Controls, Cost-Saving Measures, and other Hotel policies.
- Great the guests in a timely, friendly, and courteous manner, based on Hotel Standards and within the sequence of service parameters. Explain any specials and/or restaurant promotions for guest awareness.
- Record the Detail of the order from the guests, repeating the order to the guests to check for accuracy. Input the order into the point-of-sale computer to inform the kitchen of the particulars of the order being placed
- When complete, retrieve order from the kitchen, confirm the accuracy, lift and deliver to the guest, based on the sequence of service parameters, along with appropriate condiments. Abide by all State, Federal, and Corporate liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests. Replenish beverages as necessary and check with guests for overall satisfaction
- Market and serve upon request any Beverages, Desserts, After Dinner Drinks, or specialty coffees.
- Check the Guest’s Check for accuracy of the Charges and the Number of Guests were charged for the Buffet, present the Check to the guest promptly, collect appropriate payment and deliver it to the Cashier.
Supportive Functions
- In addition to the performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the hotel.
- Supplement the bus help in cleaning and resetting the tables.
- Perform all assigned side work to include replenishing condiments and restocking side stands
- Perform any general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products as assigned to adhere to health standards, including Restaurant, immediate work station, table bottoms, chairs, flower vases and props and or wall hangers
- Additional duties including setting up buffet replenishing at times and breaking up as necessary, or as directed by Supervisor and Manager.
Qualifications, Skills, and Requirements
- The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
- Must have basic knowledge of food & beverage preparation, service standards, guest relations and etiquette.
- Knowledge of the appropriate table settings, service ware and menu items.
- Ability to read, write and speak the English language to communicate effectively
- Ability to remember, recite and promote the variety of menu items.
- Ability to operate beverage and toast equipment.
- Ability to operate a keyboard and learn Point of sale procedures to pre check order and close out check.
Experience:
- Two years’ experience, as food server in full service restaurant is required.
- Customer service experience preferred.
Licenses or certificates
Food Handlers Certificate and Alcohol Serving License
Education
Any combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. High School or equivalent education preferred.
Physical Requirements
Sitting, walking, climbing stairs, standing, crouching, bending, stooping, grasping, pushing, pulling, near vision, far vision, hearing, talking, smell, taste, travel, and lifting may be required.
Safety Requirements
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required when performing work duties that may have the potential of risk to your health or safety. The hotel will provide the required PPE. Team members will be trained in the proper use and care of any assigned PPE. It is your responsibility to report defective, damaged or lost PPE, or equipment that does not fit properly, to your manager.
Grooming
All employees must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance. Specific uniform guidelines and/ or required articles of clothing will be explained to you as part of the orientation process.
Schedule
The work schedule is based on the demands of the business. AM, PM, nights, overnights, weekends, and/or holiday availability are required.
