Shelter Worker Job at Innovative Emergency Mgmt
Position Summary:
Currently, we have an immediate need for Shelter Workers; this will require flexibility in your work hours as shifts can be day shifts, mid shifts, and overnight shifts. Personnel will be scheduled to accommodate the needs of the client and will be expected to work at least 40 hours per week and in most cases with overtime each two week pay period, to meet the needs of the client.
Like other cadre members of this type, your employment is dependent on the needs of our clients; we are activating this team for Full-Time employment that will end upon completion of contracted period of performance, until mission requirements change, client needs are met and the contract ends. Once those needs are met, you will be deactivated, and your period of full-time employment will end.

IEM is looking to form a cadre of
Shelter Workers to fill our clients’ growing desires for mass care and shelter management initiatives in communities across the country. Are you looking for a job that gives you a strong sense of passion, meaning and purpose?
Currently, we have an immediate need for Shelter Workers; this will require flexibility in your work hours as shifts can be day shifts, mid shifts, and overnight shifts. Personnel will be scheduled to accommodate the needs of the client and will be expected to work at least 40 hours per week and in most cases with overtime each two week pay period, to meet the needs of the client.
Like other cadre members of this type, your employment is dependent on the needs of our clients; we are activating this team for Full-Time employment that will end upon completion of contracted period of performance, until mission requirements change, client needs are met and the contract ends. Once those needs are met, you will be deactivated, and your period of full-time employment will end.
If you would like to be considered for other opportunities once deactivated from this project, there may be possibilities for you to remain on our roster in a reserve status. Once another mission need is required, you would need to be able and available for full-time employment within 24-72 hours of reactivation notice.
Primary Location:
- Candidates who are able to start immediately will be given preference, we have an immediate need to start people full time within 72 hours of offer acceptance.
- Candidates must originate from the greater Denver, CO area.
- This position requires work to be performed on site and will require working on some weekends/holidays to fill 24/7 staffing needs.
- Jobs sites are subject to change or be added based on client needs and continued employment requires you to be able to work on site.
Travel Requirements:
- Must be available and willing to travel to multiple locations within the project location.
- This position is for LOCAL area hires and does not offer a travel stipend or per diem.
Essential Functions:
- Must be able to work long hours in physically demanding work environments, with extended periods of time walking, assisting others, and lifting materials.
- Must be willing to work any shifts including days, nights, swing shifts, weekends, holidays, and others as required to meet the needs of the mission.
- Must be very detail-oriented, take instruction well from supervisorial staff, and ready and willing to join a high-tempo team.
- Ideal Candidates will have a proven record of multiple deployments in high-tempo, high-stress environments such as emergency response operations, sheltering operations, and other related incident response relief efforts.
- Flexibility is essential.
- Always maintain professional composure under high-tempo duty assignments and deadlines.
Current Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Experience in working with populations at-risk, such as refugees, unaccompanied minors, and families seeking asylum status.
- Ability to think and analyze very quickly, follow instruction, and perform the mission in sometimes ambiguous, fluid, rapidly changing scenarios to meet mission requirements.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be Fluent in English and Spanish
- 1 year in customer service and/or busy, high operational tempo work environments.
- Able to manage both mental and physical job requirements such as using computers, phone applications, and dealing with the public.
- Ability to lift, up to 50lbs, and be on your feet for extended periods of time.
- Have a HS Diploma or GED.
- Have a current and valid Driver's License.
- Must not pose a direct threat or significant risk of substantial harm to the safety or health of himself/herself or others.
- Must be able to pass a Child Abuse background check, and all applicable state and federal criminal background checks.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States.
- Must provide proof of work eligibility status upon request.

- Associates Degree
- Proven record of multiple deployments in high-tempo, high-stress environments such as emergency response operations, sheltering operations, and other related incident response relief efforts.
