Avient Corporation has a Shift Supervisor, Production Operations position at our Greenville, North Carolina facility. This position supports our Protective Materials Business unit which was recently acquired from DSM Corporation.

General Summary:The Production Operations Supervisor is responsible for producing high quality Dyneema products in the most cost effective manner and according to the production plan, while maintaining excellent safety, human relations, and environmental standards. The Production Operations Supervisor coordinates communication between varied cross-functional areas to resolve customer inquiry related issues. Acts as the primary liaison between customers, laboratory, production, customer service and marketing. Generates statistical information required.
Shift: 2/3/2 Swing Shift- Although it sounds different, the majority of our team really like this schedule! In a month, instead of working 20 or 16 days, you will only work 14 days! You will have days off midweek which are nice for family time and appointments. You only work 2 weekends- one weekend day shift and one weekend night shift.
Note: Because we are a 24/7 operation, you will work a holiday if it falls on your shift.
Essential duties and Responsibilities:
- Safety- Ensure all work is conducted in a safe and effective manner and all applicable procedures and policies are followed. Maintain or enhance safety awareness programs and related documentation. Support and lead the Avient Protective Materials group Safety Committee. Take action to correct unsafe acts, systems and procedures.
- Provide Leadership and development to the LP/Fiber production organization. Manage performance of Lead Production Technicians and Production Technicians.
- Facilitate teamwork within the LP/Fiber production group. Provide necessary resources for the team to fulfill objectives. Encourage team members to understand corporate and departmental goals/objectives and needs. Provide supervisory communication and/or direction to the production employees. Disseminate needed divisional, unit and corporate information to employees on a timely basis. Establish and maintain an open line of communication with all employees.
- Assist the Operations Manager in establishing operational goals to support divisional, unit, and corporate objectives. Incorporate short-term goals in immediate subordinates’ annual performance plans. Initiate and implement plans to reduce COGS by continuously improving efficiencies, processing times, reducing labor and material costs, reducing maintenance costs and controlling expense budgets.
Education and experience
- High school diploma (Required) with at least 3-5 years of experience working in a manufacturing, production, or equivalent military technical experiences / training.
- Bachelor’s degree (Preferred)
- Working knowledge and/or routine use of the business processes and platforms such as:
- Microsoft Office Suite and related Digital Platforms
- Manufex, Operational Excellence and Good Manufacturing Processes (GMP)
- SAP
- Work permitting and work permit software
- SHE requirements and practices
- Relevant SHE assessments and investigation practices
- Management of change and continuous improvement methodologies
- Ability to effectively manage team performance and to identify developmental opportunities for team members.
- Firm understanding of production planning and scheduling activities.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations related to UD/Fiber and UD/Fiber Production activities.
- Ability to drive improvements in production lead times and to minimize rejected material.
