***MULTIPLE POSITIONS OPEN NOW *** INSTRUCTORS, EDUCATORS & TEACHING ASSISTANTS, BEHAVIORAL SPECIALIST for part-time or full-time positions in San Fernando Valley, North Hollywood, Van Nuys, and Sylmar.

PASSPORT TO LEARNING, INC. is seeking instructors, educators, teaching assistants and behavioral specialist with backgrounds in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, Criminal Justice, or Education to work part-time and/or work full-time with people who have intellectual disabilities. Work is conducted in the clients' home environment and in the community to establish positive routines and functional skill development for the enhancement of the clients' daily living skills. Remote instructions are provided on specific cases due to COVID-19. Additionally, the instuctors educators, teaching assistants and behavioral specialist will provide training and guidance to clients in a mentor-style relationship for the attainment of personal goals. Only candidates residing within 10 miles of one of the specified service areas will be considered for a position. Must be available to meet with clients in their communities to provide skills training, attend social service meetings, and medical appointments several times a month. Must attend meetings at one of Passport To Learning's offices located in Northridge or Palmdale to submit progress documentation, attend staff meetings, training, supervision, and client QA meetings. On the job training is provided.

Parent Support Service (PSS) Educators - SFV

PASSPORT TO LEARNING, INC. (PTL) is dedicated to serving a community of individuals with intellectual disabilities who need assistance in adapting to meet age-specific developmental milestones. Independent Living Skills (ILS) and Adaptive Skills Training (AST) is a functional skills education and support service for individuals with Autism, MMR, Down Syndrome, and other intellectual disabilities to increase their daily living skills at home and in the community. Parenting Support Services (PSS) work one-to-one with 'special need' parents in a mentor-style / instructor relationship to teaching parenting skills. The Judicially Involved -Adaptive Living Skills program (ALS) provides support and guidance to clients in a mentor-style relationship to foster self-esteem and to assist clients in becoming productive and confident members of society.

*Compensation: Starting Salary: $17.37 - $28.08 per hour based on qualifications and the job, travel time at the minimum wage rate plus mileage reimbursement.

SKILLS:

* Effective written and verbal communication skills

* Ability to work in the client's home setting or the community

* Knowledge of intellectual disabilities

* Ability to use community resources and advocacy

* Knowledge of the criminal justice system (ALS program)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: AA/AS degree; or completion of 60 units to include at least three units with a minimum of 2.7 GPA in one of the following disciplines: social sciences, human services, psychology, education, or teacher's assistant.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Reliable transportation is a must. Covid 19 fully vaccinated. Valid California Driver's License, Automotive Insurance, and CPR/ 1st Aid are required. An extensive background clearance is required, including a 3-year Motor Vehicle Report.
