Job Summary


ONE FULL-TIME, LIMITED POSITION WILL BE FILLED FROM THIS POSTING. THE POSITION WILL BE LOCATED AT THE BCA-ST. PAUL, MN

This is a three-year temporary position. The agent assigned to this position will conduct investigations of cases referred to the B.C.A. by the Minnesota Department of Human Services (D.H.S.), Office of the Inspector General (OIG) for fraud-related crimes, including child care and other public programs. Because of the nature of the funding, on occasions, the agent will be required to work with other state agencies and state and county law enforcement officials from other jurisdictions.

Agents in this position will also be required to be on-call and respond outside of the normal business hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must meet on of the following criteria:

1. An Associate's Degree from an accredited institution with 4 years full-time experience as a licensed peace officer conducting felony-level criminal investigations with a law enforcement agency - OR-A

2. A 4 year degree from an accredited institution plus 1 or more years of full-time experience as a licensed peace officer conducting felony-level criminal investigations with a law enforcement agency - OR-A

3. A 4 year degree from an accredited institution, 4 or more years as a licensed police officer, plus 1 or more of the following specialized skillsets:
Specialized Skillsets:
Fluency in a foreign language.
Degree or Certification in accounting or other financial specialty.
Degree or Certification in technology related specialty or computer science.
Demonstrated advanced computer skills.
Juris Doctorate.

4. Applicants must be licensed as a peace officer in the State of Minnesota or be eligible to be licensed as a peace officer in the State of Minnesota.

5. Must be able to pass an extensive background investigation, physical and psychological examination prior to hire.

6. Applicants must reside within 35 miles of their assigned office. (within the State of Minnesota)

7. Ability to work cooperatively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and underserved communities.

Preferred Qualifications

1. 4 year degree from an accredited institution.

2. Specialized Skillset.
Fluency in a foreign language.
Degree or Certification in accounting or other financial specialty.
Degree or Certification in technology related specialty or computer science.
Demonstrated advanced computer skills.
Juris Doctorate.

3. Previous experience conducting complex, multi-jurisdictional, felony level investigations.

4. Previous experience with federal investigations and prosecutions.

5. Previous experience with financial crimes or fraud related investigations.

6. Previous experience conducting covert surveillance operations.

Physical Requirements

Requires occasionally moving and transporting 50 pound items and frequently moving and transporting objects such as heavy tools and heavy file boxes. This job may require positioning self to move to a significant degree across rough terrain or may involve maintaining a stationary position for extended periods. Special Agent must be able to kneel, crawl, walk, stoop, bend, climb ladders, have use of hands for carrying equipment (which may exceed 50lbs).
