The Specialist, Business Improvement position is responsible for the definition and execution of business improvement projects/initiatives for the Global Supply Chain and Logistics organization within the Commercial Business Unit. This role assists the Director of Systems and Optimization and the overall Global Logistics Business Improvement team to maintain and utilize existing systems, tools, and processes to ensure accurate and timely data analytics to drive value creation with the Commercial BU. This role will also identify, develop, and execute opportunities to improve and/or develop new systems, tools, processes to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Commercial BU. The role provides leadership to build and improve consistency in work processes across businesses, functions and facilities and proactively manages a diverse project portfolio with multiple timelines, stages, and work streams.
Responsibilities May Include
Owning business process development, improvement, optimization, and sustainability for assigned Commercial functions and stakeholders
Execute exception reports to enhance the monitoring of Global supply chain and transportation logistics process improvements
Participate in cross-functional project teams as needed
Enhance and generate performance analytics and metrics such as target comparisons and or benchmarking, perform analysis, carrier performance, rail maintenance truck retains, runout, retains, overfills
Assist with special projects or business improvement opportunities as needed
Develop and execute business improvement plan that aligns with business needs and priorities for assigned Global Supply Chain business or functions
Drive direct improvements in the effectiveness and efficiency within Global Supply Chain and for the benefit of its stakeholders by initiating and executing business improvement projects in alignment with Global Supply Chain business plan and strategies
Develop and communicate business case economics and appropriate plan/schedule to include improvement projects in the IT budgeting processes
Identify, develop, and promote best practices
Support and promote the sustainability of project benefits by establishing appropriate business metrics and ownership for process and sub-processes
Collaborating with IT to execute SAP and other system changes to improve transportation logistics needs and process improvements
Collaborate with IT on continuous business requirements in the freight accrual and transactional processes within logistics for continuous improvement
Serve as the business owner/lead for system functionality enhancement projects
Build consensus and momentum with global business process owners to advance process improvements
Communicate project status and performance to stakeholders and ensuring alignment across stakeholders
Manage a large project portfolio balancing time commitments, deliverables, and strategic vs tactical priorities
Provide subject matter expertise in global supply chain systems, processes, functions, performance tools and interconnectivity to drive business performance improvements
Required Qualifications
Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, MIS, or business-related field
Working knowledge of SAP
High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word, & PowerPoint)
Strong knowledge of supply chain and/or transaction processing
2 or more years of experience in Commercial, Procurement, Transportation or Logistics support function
Attention to detail, strong organizational skills
Able to adapt and learn quickly
Business aptitude to understand Commercial Logistics and Operations
Experience with Alteryx, PowerBI, or Tableau
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree in analytics fields
Business aptitude to understand Commercial Supply Chain and Transportation Operations as well as business integration points across the value chain
Strong influencing and conflict management skills
Ability to adjust to varying and/ or unexpected changing conditions and shift priorities with minimal direction
Ability to collaborate effectively with many stakeholders across multiple functional areas
Self-starter with the ability to recommend changes to improve processes resulting in greater efficiency in the position and the organization
2 or more years of experience using SAP SD module, SAP S/4 HANA
5 or more years of direct experience working in the oil and gas logistics or transportation industry
Excellent oral and written communication skills, ensuring common understanding
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to support business focused analysis and decisions
Demonstrate a high level of personal initiative and sense of urgency to get the job done, with the potential and desire to advance to a higher level of responsibility and to learn the underlying commercial business
Operate effectively in a dynamic work environment
The Commercial organization works to effectively leverage assets and market knowledge to create additional value within the risk parameters of the Company. We do this by maximizing general interest profitability, enhancing return on capital employed by successfully partnering with the Refining, Transportation and Marketing functions to ensure Value Chain Integration. Our truck and rail fleets support our feedstock and distribution operations. Rail movements are provided via a fleet of more than 10,000 owned and leased rail cars. Truck movements are provided through numerous third-party trucking companies, as well as through our 100 percent-owned subsidiary, Sentinel Transportation LLC.
