JOB SUMMARY

The Sr. Accountant is responsible for providing accounting and analytical support for the Finance Department of a multi-business environment by applying principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports. This position also champions the identification and implementation of continuous improvement of business processes.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to general ledger accounts
  • Prepares analysis of account reconciliations
  • Responsible for all Fixed Asset accounting
  • Calculates commission payments and accruals on a monthly basis
  • Assists in ensuring proper controls of general ledger activity, timely preparation of reconciliations, and timely documentation and resolution of discrepancies
  • Performs month-end and yearly close procedures, including balancing and submitting financial information via OneStream.
  • Acts as Sarbanes Oxley Auditor; assists in both internal and external audits, including preparation PBC schedules, as needed
  • Maintains building lease data in LeaseQuery system and books monthly journal entries accordingly.
  • Prepares appropriate data for federal, state and local quarterly and year-end tax provisions and state sales and use tax returns
  • Responsible for reconciling and balancing transactions with Corporate/Home Office as well as other intercompany businesses on a monthly basis.
  • Responsible for Master Data changes (Vendor, Customer, GL, etc.) and updating of related JDE data
  • Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures
  • Updates and documents accounting control procedures and assists with cross-training, development and continual improvement of company policies and procedures
  • Responsible for periodic ad hoc financial reports
  • Provides financial support for forecasting, budgeting, and analyzing variations from budget
  • Other duties as required

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • CPA strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 6 years of accounting experience in public and/or manufacturing accounting; some public accounting experience preferred
  • Demonstrates strong understanding US GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley / internal controls

  • Demonstrates strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrates strong computer skills in Microsoft Office applications
  • JDE and/or OneStream a plus
