Duties
Contribute to the delivery of projects in support of the Transactions business area within Black & Veatch’s Global Advisory consulting practice. Support technical due diligence services, also known as independent engineering services. Support investors, lenders, and asset owners in the identification of technical risks for energy assets subject to M&A (Merger & Acquisition) activity. Collaborate and innovate with clients to define their overall strategic development. Support execution of management consulting projects relating to technical due diligence and independent engineering. Support proposals and business development with clients in the same business area. Develop a general understanding of the various electric generating and transmission and distribution assets in the market and under development. Draft clear and concise reports and presentations for review by project manager. Support the execution of projects in other Management Consulting business areas. Contribute to multiple projects at any given time. Provide mentorship and direction to lower-level analysts. Assist project managers by overseeing lower-level analysts and directing additional Black & Veatch resources in the project. No Hire/fire authority.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in business, math, or engineering, or a related field plus at least two years of related experience in an engineering or business consulting environment. Remote work within the 48 contiguous states is permitted. Related experience must include use of BlueBeam, PowerBI, and PVSyst. Must have experience utilizing Microsoft tools including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to provide detailed technical reports, detailed financial models, and client presentations. Experience required working in the engineering or business consulting environments of the energy and water industries in North America, Central America, Caribbean, and South America. Must have at least two years of experience in the following areas: producing performing solar resource studies and performing energy production estimates using tools including PVsyst; reviewing and evaluating production data for energy forecasting produced by others; evaluating financial models; analyzing and advising on renewable energy project level documentation including interconnection agreements, power purchase agreements, EPC agreements, O&M agreements, permits, and environmental reviews; working with multi-state and federal government regulatory requirements to renewable development and operation; verifying and advising on electrical, structural, and civil designs of renewable energy projects; reviewing and advising on equipment used on renewable energy and conventional projects; and conducting site visit inspections for construction and operating energy generating projects. National or international travel required up to 50% of the time. Must have good written and verbal communications skills in English.
