Sr. Analyst, Property Tax

JOB SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for coordinating and controlling the property tax function. This position encompasses working closely with operations and third party providers, filing renditions, paying property bills, coordinating appeals and audits, and other related property tax duties.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain information regarding Textron operations, properties, accounts/parcels, assets.
• Initiate data requests (properties, accounts, assets) from operations.
• Review/reconcile operations data and information for completeness and accuracy.
• File business personal property tax renditions.
• Review business personal property and real property valuation notices.
• Work with third party providers on property valuation reviews.
• File necessary appeals on properties handled internally.
• Work with third party providers to determine which property values should be appealed and coordinate timely filing of outsourced appeals.
• Payment of property tax bills.
• Manage property tax systems.
• Manage property tax audits in conjunction with operations.
• Work with operations on required property tax accruals.
• Work with operations as assigned to reconcile property tax liability accounts.
• Monitor laws, trends and techniques relative to property tax requirements and property valuation.
• Work with team to ensure all tasks are completed in a timely manner and deadlines are met.
• Maintain positive relationships with operations and ensure their needs are met.
• Research and consult with operations and assessors on various property tax issues.
• Perform other job duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• B.S. Accounting, Business or related field.
• 5+ years property tax experience preferred.
• Experience working in a shared services center a plus.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:

• Experience with property tax systems, Sigertax a plus.
• Strong working knowledge of MS Excel and Access..
• Working knowledge of ERP systems – SAP, Lawson.
• Knowledge of SOX controls and compliance requirements.
• Understanding of general accounting.
• Demonstrated ability to manage functions and projects.
• High level of initiative and demonstrated ability to develop new ideas.
• Ability to problem solve and make educated decisions.
• Ability to communicate and interact effectively with co-workers, operations, and third party providers.
• Ability to collaborate with leads and other team members.
