Sr. Product Development Engineer- Controls Job at Systems, LLC
Systems, LLC, in Germantown, a leader in the design and manufacture of loading dock equipment, has a rare opportunity for a self-motivated individual with strong systems engineering knowledge to support development, improvements, and productivity of the electrical controls and other connected product designs. Work may include creation of previously non-existent products or modification of existing products, including product line extensions. The position will also be involved in lab and offsite testing
Description of Duties and Job Responsibilities
Dock Equipment Controls
- Complete format and setup of standardized panel and control box layouts.
- Work with internal or external sources for software development.
- Assist in coordinating efforts within engineering and other departments to drive new product offerings and improvements to completion.
Connected Systems Design
- Maintain and/or define features and specifications for end-to-end system.
- Maintain and/or define specifications for major components such as gateways, cloud functions, and the interfaces between them using Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and cellular technologies.
- Coordinate development projects with internal and external sources.
- Coordinate development of networked components and cloud-based control.
Manage Testing (lab, field, and regulatory)
- Define and maintain test plans and results.
- Coordinate testing required to meet regulatory requirements.
- Manage and coordinate field testing and installation of electrical controls and/or connected systems.
- Seek, log, and analyze test data and feedback.
- Coordinate and define manufacturing testing processes for electrical controls.
- Test and troubleshoot electrical controls and systems.
General Systems Engineering
- Learn and understand embedded software programming, in particular, C programming.
- Research technology and prototype new technology that support the lines of business product portfolio.
- Assist in developing new product development project schedules and timelines.
- Maintain engineering technical quality through design and peer reviews, SFMEA, DFMEA, and other possible quality tools.
- Participate in failure analysis and problem-solving tactics.
- Write technical documentation such as specifications and test reports to support project deliverables.
- Process ECN's for product releases and improvements.
- Protect company reputation by keeping information confidential.
- Contribute positively to maintain a workplace culture that is consistent with the company mission, vision, and values.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending onsite or offsite training, educational classes, or networking.
- Contribute to the team -performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Software or Electrical Engineering
- Strong computer/ programming -experience/ knowledge/ ability to learn imbedded software i.e., C Programming, AWS Cloud Services, etc.
- Related work experience; Experience in industrial controls, hydraulic valving etc. is desirable
- Strong interpersonal, communication, team and organizational skills
- Ability to travel up to 10% of time including visits to Oakbrook IL and customer sites. International travel may be required.
