A leading shoe manufacturer headquartered in Carlsbad, California, specializing in quality comfort women’s footwear with a design focus on fitting features, is seeking a Staff Accountant.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Prepare and process appropriate accruals and journal entries for accounts as assigned in order to ensure a timely and accurate month-end close
- Reconcile and review balance sheet accounts to ensure the integrity and timeliness of financial transactions.
- Assist in the preparation of the Quarterly and Annual Filings to the OTC including the schedules and notes to the financial statements.
- Support year-end audit including creating schedules and responding to requests.
- Assist in the preparation and review of the monthly financial statements.
- Responsible for payroll processing, including 401K, and related journal entries.
- Prepare quarterly and monthly sales tax returns, property tax returns, and 1099’s.
- Support monthly close by analyzing the A/P aging and preparing month end accruals including prepaids, fixed assets and AP trade accruals, to ensure transactions are posted within the correct period.
- Perform and oversee day to day financial accounts payable transactions, including verifying, classifying, computing, posting and recording accounts payable data. This will include 3-way matching of production vendors.
- Stock Compensation tracking and recording
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent work experience
- 3+ years of work experience in a similar role
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
- Working knowledge of data collection, data analysis, and evaluation
- Previous experience recording journal entries for accurate accounting.
- Experience with reconciliations, control, and reporting of the General Ledger Accounts
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of GAAP.
- Flexible team player that enjoys hands on responsibilities, with an ability to be proactive and a self-starter.
- Payroll experience a plus
- Public accounting experience preferred.
- Advance excel experience required (pivot tables, vlookups, data analysis)
OFFICE ENVIRONMENT:
- This is largely a sedentary role and operates in a professional office environment using standard office equipment.
- May be required to work evenings and weekends.
