We are recruiting for a Staff Psychologist for Whitaker PRTF in Butner, NC. As a psychologist on the clinical staff, this position provides the following clinical/therapeutic services:
Completes assessments and determines appropriate psychological services and treatment techniques based on the assessments.
Provides individual, group, and family therapy to assigned residents.
Develops behavior guidelines and behavior support plans, including completing functional behavioral analyses (FBAs) as required for behavior planning purposes.
Coordination of behavioral support services by either performing or providing oversight to ensure that behavior support plans/guidelines are developed in a timely manner; that staff are continually updated on the status of new, revised, or discontinued plans; and that staff are trained in the implementation of behavioral strategies (guidelines/plans).
Provides crisis intervention assistance to clinical, residential, and educational staff.
This position plays a central role in treatment planning services by performing the following:
Participates in treatment team meetings and assists the attending psychiatrist with the development and documentation of Master Treatment Plans (MTPs), monthly Treatment Plan Reviews (TPRs), Special Treatment Plan Reviews (STPRs), and Restrictive Intervention Prevention Plans (RIPPs).
Reviews progress towards treatment plan goals (including via assessment with the OHIO questionnaire) and documents on these in the Whitaker Interdisciplinary Discharge Summaries for all residents.
Serves as a Group Therapy Coordinator to ensure that the PRTF has a robust, age- and diagnostically appropriate group therapy program. Revises and/or develops new group curriculum to meet the residents' clinical needs. Manages the Group Treatment Tracking program to ensure group scheduling, resident enrollments and goal tracking, and timely documentation.
This position offers expert consultative services within the area of psychological services:
Is an active participant in staff, unit, and book talk meetings.
Serves on the Policy Committee and offers input on recommended policy revisions.
Role models and assists staff in working therapeutically with residents.
Is available for informal, case-specific consultative services to other members of the Clinical Team.
Develops educational presentations and presents them during quarterly or other trainings.
Provides clinical supervision to psychology interns. Is involved in the selection and evaluation processes for psychology interns.
This position provides clinical data support and analysis as part of the PRTF's performance improvement and
safety management programs:
Maintains clinical data management systems (incidents, seclusion and restraints, etc.) to ensure these data are current and accurate to meet the data needs of PRTF managers and regulatory/accrediting agencies.
Analyzes data to identify facility-wide patterns and trends and disseminates this information to the appropriate PRTF staff.
Compiles routine and ad hoc data reports for PRTF managers, committees, and PI Teams (e.g., quarterly PI reports, data requests for clinical and leadership decision-making).
Facility designee to complete required NC Wise reports.
This position contributes to infection control efforts at the facility by:
Serves on the Infection Control Committee.
Ensures that all recommended infection control measures are being carried out to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Other duties as assigned by the Medical or Facility Director.
This is a full-time position and eligible for the full State benefits package. The normal work hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm; however, flexibility is required to meet the facility needs.

Thorough knowledge of psychology practices and their application to individual, group, and family work.- Considerable knowledge of a wide range of medical and behavioral psychosocial problems and their treatments, plus the laws, regulations, and policies which govern the program is required.
- Considerable knowledge of medical terminology, disease processes, and their treatment as they relate to decisions to clinical interventions and appropriate therapies based on medical or psychological diagnosis.
- Skill in establishing rapport with the resident and in applying techniques of assessing psychosocial, behavioral, and psychological aspects of residents' problems.
- Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely and plan and execute work effectively.
- Working knowledge of Joint Commission Behavioral Healthcare standards, CMS regulations, NC statutes, DMA guidelines, Human Rights regulations, and DSOHF policies as they relate to PRTFs.
- Computer skills for data entry, maintenance of databases/spreadsheets, and data presentation.
- Ability to trend and analyze data, presenting in a manner conducive to interpretation by staff.
- Ability to coordinate work groups and facility-wide initiatives.
- Doctoral degree (PhD or PsyD) from an accredited school of Psychology; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Eligibility for licensure in North Carolina under the provisions of the North Carolina Psychology Act (G.S. 90270) and two years of professional psychological experience, one of which must be postdoctoral.
