JOB GOAL:
To support building-level administrators and staff to address a variety of systems and practices to ensure student success. Priority areas of implementation and support include student social/emotional learning, mental health supports/coordination, PBIS/culture, restorative practices, creating welcoming/belonging environments, and ensuring understanding and consistent implementation of practices associated with the revised student code of conduct.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Ten (10.00) month (205 days) contract. Plus the benefits package. NOTE: Precise placement on the salary range will be determined by experience.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A master’s degree in counseling, social work, or a related field.
- Arkansas certification in Guidance & Counseling K-12, social work, or related field required.
- Evidence of experience in working with students struggling academically
- Experience in working with multi-disciplinary teams
- Experience in working with agencies that provide therapeutic interventions for children and families
- Experience in working with school personnel and/or in school settings
- Evidence of strong organizational skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Evidence of strong oral and written communication skills.
- Evidence of a strong commitment to quality desegregated education.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following statements of duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. - Participate in creating an environment conducive to the learning and growth of the identified children.
- Monitor and support the communication and utilization of wrap-around services for students with mental health challenges or students in mental health crisis.
- Provide technical support to schools and communities on mental health services, interventions, referrals, programming and concerns.
- Support students, families, and schools by coordinating with counseling agencies, caseworkers, probation officers, community and support services, etc. Work with other agencies to share information and coordinate services.
- Assists parents and school staff in understanding the developmental needs of all students, and works with parents and staff in meeting the individual needs of students in the school environment.
- Implements research-based materials and strategies targeted at closing the achievement gap.
- Supports district strategy to address attendance/truancy
- Promotes effective utilization of school and community resources in program development and implementation.
- Assists students, staff, and parents in interpreting and using pertinent information relating to the educational and psychosocial needs of pupils.
- Member of LRSD crisis team, SEL, PBIS, and Restorative Practices district teams.
- Maintain and improve professional competence.
- Attends district and network staff meetings and serves on committees as required.
- Work with network social workers and School-Based Mental Health providers to support the network.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Mental Functions, Physical Requirements, and Working Conditions:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, go up and down stairs, operate foot and hand controls, use a telephone, and write. Occasionally the employee must lift and/or move up to twenty (20) or more pounds. This position requires accurate perceiving of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, handling and working with educational materials and/or objects, and providing oral information. Must have the ability to work for the duration of the daily contracted time period, and to be physically present and at assigned work, with only infrequent unexcused absences, during the contract year. Additional technical skills, knowledge, and abilities may be recommended by immediate supervisor and approved by the Human Resources Director.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Describes physical conditions of this position):
Sedentary Work Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
