Summer Camp Teacher
A Teacher at Kid City is responsible for establishing and maintaining a safe, healthy and nurturing learning environment. Additionally, a Teacher is responsible to work together with co-teachers and in conjunction with the entire faculty.
General Qualifications
- High School Diploma (Required)
- Experience working in a licensed childcare facility (Preferred)
- CPR Certification (Preferred)
- Ability to lift and carry children and other items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to pass state background check.
- Must have a flexible schedule.
Lead Teacher Responsibilities
A Summer Camp Teacher’s responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Establish and maintain a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment.
- Responsible for the overall supervision and daily class functions of a group of children.
- Develop an appropriate classroom management system to support the goals and developmental level of the children in the classroom.
- Observe and comply with all rules and regulations at Kid City as well as local, state, or national regulatory agencies pertaining to the health, safety and care of children.
- Assess each child’s developmental need on an ongoing basis.
- Implement lesson plans and follow daily classroom schedules.
- Present age- and developmentally appropriate expectations for all children.
- Encourage creativity through art, music, dramatic play, and blocks.
- Provide a reasonable balance between teacher-directed and child-directed activities.
- Provide opportunities for both active and quiet play.
- Plan and implement activities to develop children’s self-esteem and social skills.
- Plan and implement activities to enable children’s feeling of security.
- Maintain an attractive, well-kept classroom that encourages children to create, explore and make decisions with confidence.
- Accept responsibility for maintenance and necessary cleaning duties of the classroom, common use areas and playground.
- Provides verbal recognition and acceptance to children while providing clear and consistent expectations for children.
- Maintain a professional appearance and attitude adhering to the employee handbook.
- Maintain the classroom Parent Board.
- Attend faculty meetings, in-service days, conferences and professional growth opportunities
