Position Summary: The Surgery Scheduler is responsible for scheduling and obtaining prior authorizations and referrals for patient procedures and surgeries performed at outside facilities.
Essential Functions
- Accurate scheduling of inpatient and outpatient procedures and surgeries
- Administer prior authorization and referral process to ensure maximum benefit coverage
- Provide basic patient education regarding procedures
- Collaborate with medical business office to ensure proper claim processing
- Ensure effective and efficient communication between providers, clinical staff, and patients
Qualifications
- Associate degree required
- 3 years of healthcare administrative/business office experience preferred
- Working knowledge of prior authorization process
- Basic understanding of medical terminology
- Excellent customer service and communication skills required
- Ability to plan, organize, and integrate priorities and deadlines
- EMR experience, Epic preferred
